The Dogmother
They do them in luminous pink too Apparently in the sale - 2 for £20 You're kidding me! It's the sort of thing that a buyer gets sold as part of a deal, then has problems shifting.
daisyisarobot
Hahah I thought it was a joke too... £12 for one. Omlet are CRAZY.
Margaret
I HAVE ONE !!! It's my Birthday today and just opened my present from my best friend...( she isn't a chicken person ) Not sure what to do with it, might try a photo shoot with the girlies, mind you seeing as they are all pretty tiny, may try on Lil as she is a black bearded silky so might make her glow in the dark. Must admit it did make me laugh.
Olly
Haha - well, I'm sure it's brought a smile to your face! I'd love to know what your friend thought you'd use it for. Maybe it's for the top chicken to wear while she's chivvying the flock into the coop every evening at dusk?
The Dogmother
All she needs now is a hard hat and safety boots!
Ain't Nobody Here
Actually, my little Layla could probably do with the hi-viz top, hard hat and safety boots - then the bullies couldn't hurt her. If only .
gavclojak
I am expecting one as a novelty gift for Christmas, my OH works in construction and occasionally comes home wearing the whole HI Vis boots thing, he is a Manley man but stands on our garden step shouting princess layer, Betty boo, where are you? I have to admit seeing him standing there calling the girls.....I have never wanted him more

Alis girls
I love the pink one - very fetching, why do you have to take off at night? Do they overheat or cook or something. I would think cold winter nights are the time to stuff your chuck in one.
savena5630
I love this part the most; "Quilted lining featuring Flectalon NASA approved insulating material" Just in case my pekins decide to head to the moon!
Alis girls
Well after all you gals saying the man in your life would be calling the men in white coats if you attempted to buy this for your feathered friends I decided to see OH's reaction. I casually (as you do) said " if its a cold winter I might buy the girls a coat each from Omlet, they have some in pink" Long silence and he fixed me with a stern look " they don't need coats, I thought you gave them porridge and corn to keep them warm" whoops 'nuff said - no coats for my ladies
Chortle Chook
I think this whole thing has been terribly funny. I keep expecting to see a suitably clad hen now on Grand Designs or one of those other house build programmes

Purplemaniacs
200 sold!! I have just forwarded article to DD and DS as it is rather funny. But am now slightly worried that one of them might miss-interpret it and think it is a Christmas wish list item People reading that might think we Omleteers are a little bit mad Chrissie
gavclojak
I found the comments under the article more interesting than the article itself, especially the one below..... securedgold • 10 hours ago − What kind of idiot keeps a chicken as a pet?? 2 2 •Reply•Share › TwitterFacebookLink Would love a little chat with secure gold

Plum
Wouldn't the jackets be a better bet for exbats than the knitted ones?
Tigiga
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks these HiVis jackets for chickens is completely bonkers! But I do think that even Omlet are selling them as a "joke", but a rather expensive one me thinks!
Lewis
If people are worried about urban hens getting out onto the roads they should look at fencing, not Hi-vis! Can see the benefit as a saddle to protect against a cockerel or bullies but not as a raincoat. Good marketing exercise and its made the National press but I'm not sure I believe 200 sold in the first 10 days!
Tweety
This is mentioned in today's Sunday Times Style magazine as follows: Middle-class chicken-keeping obsession gone mad: high-vis jackets for chicks
Patricia W
I was listening to the radio as I drove this morning about 7 and the high vis jackets were ! It was part of a traffic report so not sure of the station but as it was the M40, probably Berkshire, Surrey or Oxfordshire. They are certainly exciting media interest - maybe that was the intention?
