Not everything to do with lockdown is bad. For instance, I have to work from home at the moment, meaning I have my garden in front of me at all times. If that weren't the case, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to capture this shot of a woodpecker chick freshly out of the nest being fed by its parents. Nothing, IMHO, quite so beautiful as parents looking after offspring.8 points

People are so lovely; I stopped yesterday to give first aid to a bloke who had taken off a big strip of his scalp when he collided with a road sign. While I was kneeling on the ground beside him, stemming the bleeding - two ladies came over to offer assistance. One walked the man's distressed 9 year old daughter home to her mum, the other brought water and blankets. Then a police officer stopped to help, and when the ambulance hadn't arrived after 40 minutes, he ferried the injured man (and me, compressing the top of his head) to A&E. Made a bit of a mess of his patrol car! The injured man's wife has just called round and given me a JLP gift card as thank you, they are so sweet...... he has a monumental headache. Faith in folks restored. Karma will bite the bum of the youth who saw the accident, laughed and walked on by.7 points

I’ve been so excited because my present was massive - and inside is brilliant!!! A beautiful crocheted winter cushion, 2 decorations to hang on my tree (Duck wasn’t in the box but she’s been in for some indoors sunbathing by the French windows - beautiful day today ), a toy for each of our cats and some tasty looking Dutch (🤔🤣) treats. Thankyou so much I love them all (as do the cats - I fear for the long term survival of the crocheted mice!)7 points

HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY 🐣🐣🐣🐣 Thankyou so much Easter bunny for my lovely treats! So prettily wrapped too in lovely chicken napkins. I have an absolutely brilliant easter bunny pincushion - just fantastic and has lots of little bits and pieces in, and a gold bunny who will be coming to work with me tonight and may not make it home again! As you can see Duck and Camilla were as excited to get the parcel open as me7 points

Thank you so much for my box of goodies. It was really fun to open. I was especially pleased with the Thin Blue Line wristband. That was very thoughtful. Coincidentally those are the colours of my nail varnish from a metal night out last night so that looks smart. I think the multi purpose scarf and the fingerless gloves will be well used. I was thinking of getting a pair for when I want to take photos in cold weather so that's brilliant. I will share my chocolate with DD who also loves chocolate. Thanks again.7 points

Got an email this morning to say my CV and cover letter have been forwarded to local practices after I had a phone interview for a graduate programme There's one practice I really like the look of and that I think I'd fit in with the team but trying not to set my heart on that one... I have a phone interview next week with another vets I like and a third place that I haven't heard back from yet.7 points

Bizarre wildlife encounter yesterday... I was in my work van driving into Plymouth, approaching a large roundabout with about 6 lanes of traffic approaching traffic lights. People in front of me in my Lane kept leaving the lane for no reason that I could see, but when I got almost to the lights, in the middle of this busy road, was a sparrow hawk plucking a pigeon!! I got to within about 3 feet of it in the van and it just glared at me and then went back to it’s plucking!! I was about to do what everyone else had and go around it, but then I thought...’What if the next person doesn’t care about wildlife and just drives over it?’ So I put my high viz jacket on, turned on my flashing beacon and got out. I very nearly touched the hawk before it finally flew off looking very cross. Then I thought I’d better fling the dead pigeon to the side of the road in case the hawk came back, so I picked it up by the tail and felt it twitch (which was a bit grim), but flung it over the car next to me (hmmm - sorry to that person!) - and then as the pigeon got to the top of the arc - it flew!!!!! I hadn’t looked at it very carefully and actually thought it had no head!!! My face must’ve been a picture because all the people in cars around me were killing themselves laughing 😂6 points

A moth goes into a podiatrist’s office. The doctor asks the moth, “What seems to be the problem?” The moth says, “Doc, I don’t know where to start. I feel like my whole life has been a waste of time. I’ve been at the same job for twenty years and I don’t just hate it, I’m revolted by it. I can barely summon the strength to drag myself in every day but I have no choice because I’m in debt up to my compound eyes. The idea of doing this job for years more just makes me sick." "I’ve grown apart from my wife. She’s no longer the woman I loved, and I can barely stand to be around her but I feel guilty for feeling that way about her. Doc, it just eats me up inside." "My daughter’s shacked up at eighteen with a guy I can’t stand who’s terrible for her and she dropped out of school, but she won’t listen to reason and it breaks my heart. And my son… Doc, I just don’t know if I love my own son, because he reminds me of everything I hate about myself. I look into his eyes and see the same digusting, snivelling cowardice I know everyone sees in mine. I can’t even work up the courage to pull out my gun and blow my own brains out. I feel like my entire life is nothing more than a fragile web of lies just barely holding me back from the screaming abyss." The podiatrist says to the moth, “You do seem to have a lot of problems, and it's clear you need professional help. But I’m just a podiatrist; you need to see a therapist, a psychiatrist even. Why did you come to me?" “The light was on." Badoom, tsh. I'll get my coat.6 points

All I have are the cats, the chickens, and the fish. It's not like I've asked for an aviary, pygmy goats, a puppy, tree frogs, a tortoise, and some mice or anything... *nervous laugh*6 points

Ok so I waited 😇 Now I have a year in my eye as I opened the box! And found this gorgeous dog! And then some scribbles for my face. What a brilliant idea And then some biscotti made from my swappers girls eggs and friends bee's honey. Scrubby has made himself at home. I'm going to plant the card with my grandson and watch the flowers grow. Thank you my Easter bunny what a fabulous craftperson you are. Xx6 points

Husbands? Children? Travel Agents? Dogs/Cats? Electricians? The bloke behind the deli counter in Waitrose? Goodness, I'd love to know 😏! What a teaser!!!!!!!! I have been putting out a box of books on our front wall as the charity shops have been shut and out bedroom is right above; we have had the window open in the hot weather. I have been in hysterics at some of the comments overheard. One chap was out with the dog and clearly decided to 'phone his wife as he trawled through the box and updated her on what was available.........'No nothing sexy but there is a Jilly Cooper..oh and a few Dick Francis. That sounds a bit sexy....shall I grab one? There's one on natural cleaning. OK, not your thing then. It's a very eclectic selection, they must be a funny bunch'. I really wasn't sure how to take that!!!!!!!!!!5 points

Hello, remember me? Just thought I would say Hi from sunny France, where we relocated to almost 4 years ago now. The renovations at La Ferme Sauvage are still ongoing - we spent 2 years in a caravan but now have the luxury of a proper bedroom, running water.....................and soon we will be cracking out The Cube & chickening ourselves up once more, I hope. It is Fox central here, so we will have to build a Fort Knox pen to keep the little sods out, as well as making it wild Boar proof...should be interesting While he builds, I crochet....a new skill that has helped my anxiety & general wellbeing an awful lot. I was asked to post a photo of a blanket I made for our new bedroom, so here you go. I know a few of you follow us & our adventures in The Dordogne on Facebook (Hi Christian!) , & it anyone else is interested in what we are up to, here is a link to our Blog page there. https://www.facebook.com/fermesauvage/ A bientot, Sarah x5 points

Buy the biggest run you can afford for the space you have. Plan to cover it as that will sometimes be necessary if we get an Avian Flu outbreak. A couple of years ago we had to keep them in the run 24/7 from December until April. Best to think ahead even if the eventuality seems remote at the time.5 points

These are my fabulous baubles that I unwrapped this morning. Such attention to detail and having remembered the names of my previous girls made the baubles extra special. Thank you again secret Santa xx Well done to everybody for making such wonderful things. You make me proud to organise such a great activity 🎄🎄🎄5 points

Thank you so much to my secret Easter bunny, I have a lovely knitted bag filled with chocolate treats. There are also 3 sachets of which I believe are bath salts if Google translate is to be trusted It's great that we all take part in the swaps and there is a huge amount of crafty talent between us all, thank you Luvachicken for doing all the organising and thank you ladies for taking part and making it all possible. Bon Paque as they say in these parts.5 points

Tried to learn using an old handicraft book of my grans - completely confused me! Turned to YouTube - however did we manage without it?! Havent actually got any wool so used garden string but on my first weekend of trying I’ve managed to make a hat for an elf (or a pekin perhaps!) so I’m fairly hopeful i should be able to learn enough to make the caterpillar.5 points

It was my dad's birthday so celebrations were always happening - nearly didn't one year with the hurricane gusts, but it died down and over we went in the evening. He liked writing "poetry" and called himself Sideburns. Here is one of his little rhymes: Once while walking through a wood, I picked bluebells by the score. Then I was fined for trespassing I won't go there any more! I did put "poetry" in inverted commas! There are worse ones but children love the rude ones (well anything with a toilet included set them off laughing - and as I have never grown up - I did too). Although I do rather like Of Mice and Men.5 points
