Tessa the Duchess
Just spent 20 mins in garden seeing to my chickens and I am COLD I have really poor circulation and I do feel the cold more than most people I know. Does anybody wear thermal underwear? Is it any good? Anybody know where I could buy some 'nice' stuff? I used to have some from M & S which were red and really cool. Egluntyne
I get my son thermal vests and long johns from Primark. £2.50 each. He is an apprentice plumber. All the plumbers wear them. They keep him warm and they wash well. At that price I can bin them if he deals with a dodgy leak.
chickenlass
I got some great thermal undwear for when I horse ride from a an outdoor shop selling walking gear! Don't know about pretty or trendy but functional yes
Omletina Kyckling
I got some great thermals from America - they are called cuddl duds and are lovely - they are very soft and silky against the skin, and stretchy but are thin enough that you can wear them under other clothes - they certainly keep the chill off, I'd recommend them! Sadly I have ethical problems with shopping at Primark...sigh I guess I could try Milletts also I seem to recall a mail order company that does loads of thermal stuff, can't remember their name though Tessa
Omletina Kyckling
Damart do thermals and Patra do silk thermals...
Trish
There was a mail order place doing thermals called Damart http://www.Damart.co.uk think that's them
Mrs Frugal
I've got some lovely thermal undies from Millets, the camping shop. They have lovely thermal fleeces as well for wearing over the top and the prices are quite reasonable as they often have buy one, get one half price as well. I've just bought a couple of long sleeved vests for wearing under fleeces and they've got lovely soft linings. They come in white, black or a rather stunningly spotty white and pink! Cuddl duds look fab but they don't seem to do mail order, and I'm not planning to go to the US anytime soon Tessa
Charlottechicken
Is there anyone on ebay selling thermals? You could also try your local market too Don't forget that knee high socks under trousers make a big difference too

Snowy
Hope you get some soon Tessa - this weather is soooo cold isn't it? OH swears by his thermals, he's working nights at the moment and the factory is extra chilled to deal with all the extra christmas food. Rather him than me!! Olly
Patra do lovely silk ones - the cost is a bit but I bought a vest and some 'short johns' several years ago, and they are still in use! (they are quite stretchy as well, just as well as I'm quite a bit larger than when I bought them!)
Lesley
I'm still in Crocs with bare feet and legs - I have inbuilt central heating at the moment

craftyhunnypie
I had my over knee stripey socks on today under my boots, for round Manchester & my little leggies have been very cozy. My feet got cold later on, but they always get cold anyway & I have problems with chilblains. YEs Damart are well known for their thermals. Also try your local saddlery - as they will sell thermals & I once got a thermal sort of tube thing, to protect my back & kidneys from getting a chill. I've just bought a couple of long sleeved vests for wearing under fleeces and they've got lovely soft linings. They come in white, black or a rather stunningly spotty white and pink! I was going to suggest Millets/Blacks - I have the spotty ones (tops and leggings) on my Christmas wish list. Great for our early camper hols. Most of my thermals (I have lots!) come from M&S - but not the 'old lady' ones.....
The Dogmother
I love M&S thermals too Tessa and I need tham - having low blood pressure means that I feel the cold too - when I'm not having a hot flush that is!
chickencam
Until you get your thermals, tights under trousers and t'shirts, camisole tops and as many layers as possible. I always used to buy thermals from M&S when I worked in a shop. We had a thick cotton dress but the shop was kept to a comfortable temperature for the customers therefore the staff froze. These days I nip out quickly in my thick long hooded dressing gown and pink crocs to open up the chooks in the morning, then a hot bath followed by lots of layers of clothes my hubby always laughs at the amount of clothes that I wear but I too have poor circulation. Helly Welly
I have terrible circulation too. I'm wearing leggings under my trousers today but i'm a big fan of thermals too. I have to wear two pairs of gloves and a pair of mittens as my hands are really bad. Long socks and thermal boots are a must.
