Jillus
It's official I'm a YoYo! Got on the scales today for the first time in months as my jeans were again leaving track marks around my middle and I have regained all of the 5 kg I lost at the start of the year to go to St Lucia. I think having Mini Magnums in the freezer plus eating lots of wonderful homemade courgette cake has done it so I am back in the healthy eating fold and will be following all the tips as they come. I have just had half an hour up on the bed with Paul McKenna Thinking myself Thin I have a Nursing Reunion to got to in two weeks and wonder how much realistically I can lose? I will be leaping onto the Wii fit shortly and walking to the shops in the morning. Any more top tips
Lesley
Well done Jules I have just had half an hour up on the bed with Paul McKenna Thinking myself Thin - poor you!! I hope it works and you manage to lose some weight before the reunion.
Ain't Nobody Here
Do the first two weeks of the South Beach Diet . You can lose about 8 to 12lbs in that time .
AJuff
I now weigh more than I've ever weighed even when I was pregnant. I have a huge roll of stomach fat and am the widest I've ever been. I am the unfittest I've ever been too. it has been an uncomfortable summer as blouses and t-shirts are getting too tight and some don't fit! Things are not helped by super fit OH who cycles 100miles for fun four times a week!!! Time to act after feeling guilty for eating a whole malt loaf and a baguette for lunch and a takeout curry with two deserts (because it was a diet desert and two for the price of 1 normal choc mousse made sense at the time) OH very kindly set up the treadmill for me but I still haven't budged from here. He's gone to work so if I plug it in he won't ask questions. I need to but The Tudors on DVD to stave off the boredom (The cold shower thread gave me the idea). I was debating going to Weighwatchers but I teach in the local school and hate the thought of seeing any parents! if i feel brave enough I might consider posting my weight on here and having a weekly weigh in. Anyone fancy joining me ? I could use some support and encouragement.
bluekarin
I know just how you feel. I think, right tomorrow I shall get on that cross trainer for 10 minutes. And I just don't. I don't know why I don't as I am unhappy with myself and want things to change. I have been the same weight for a few years now. I used to do Slimming World and lost nearly 2 stone, but as soon as I came off it, back on went the weight. I would love to join you, but I need to motivate myself to get off my bum and on to the bike. Do you have a dvd player where the treadmill is? I found (when I did the Xtrainer) listening to music helped, especially if it was at a good pace. I could make myself go for much longer just to hear the whole of a good tune. Snowy
Why don't you have a look at the healthy eating thread over in All things nice? There seems to be loads of support and advice there: **here** I'm teetering on the edge myself so I may pop over and join you as well
AJuff
Well I've made a start . . I've ordered The Tudors DVD box set to stave off the boredom on the treadmill. . . and I've had a glass of water. I will weigh myself in the morning and WILL post it on here! Sad thing is I know how to cook and eat well it's just I love chocolate, cakes, sweets and biscuits. A bit like a smoker who knows it's bad they just keep on smoking. I do eat well it's just all the extras i have too. Since I hit 40 my weight had steadily risen . . . jlo
I know how you feel. I think that I am the opposite of an anorexic :- She will look in the mirror and think that she is fat. I look in the mirror and tell myself I am not too bad....and then I pull on my jeans and realise that they are actually getting tighter and it is not just that they have shrunk in the wash. I am lucky that I am quite tall so get away with a lot but I am finding it harder to keep the weight off. The fact that I can wolf a whole packet of plain choccy digestives in one sitting doesn't help in that regard! Good luck with the motivation and don't aim too high in the exercise stakes or you will just tell yourself that you can't do it so you won't bother....or is that just me! Happy chickens!
I'm a 'teeterer' too! As in Snowy I'm teetering on the edge myself I like good food! I have visited the healthy eating chat, but haven't had the willpower to stay there. I agree Ajuff, it's an addiction!! Good luck, may join you yet. Cinnamon
Me too, I do the same as all of you. I was in Tesco yesterday & an evil old woman said very loudly to her friend 'shes' rather plump'. When her friend told her to keep her voice down the old baggage said that she was sure I was used to hearing comments like that I am still paying my Weigh"Ooops, word censored!"chers subscription each month, but haven't even logged on for 3 months Thing is,I have a looooooooooooong way to go, I need to lose about 6st,& it seems such a long haul that I don't think I will ever get there. Gem_Seb
Hello!! I have crept up over the years and am the heaviest i have ever been! (i went up to 15st!) I have joined the gym but due to a few back to back illnesses recently i havent been going as often as i'd like and i did join slimming world but only lasted 3 months! i just found the whole meeting thing not for me but havent got the willpower to do it on my own so thought id try this! Blackrocksrock
I am struggling too and need to lose 4 stone at least - I can do everything else - stopped smoking for last 5 years no problem but cannot get my head round losing weight - maybe we will all motivate one another - I have no scales so have to wait till I go back to work (am on holidays - lovely chocolate!!) next week to weigh myself of the animal scales ( in the vets). But I am willing to join you all too.
chickencam
I am so glad that I am not the only one who looks in the mirror sucks in her tummy and says 'that looks ok' I then see photos of myself and I am and think who's that chubby middle aged woman I have had various types of excercise equipement over the years and bought a bike about 4 years ago which I have only ridden a handful of times. I keep intending to skip or jog up and down the stairs a few times but never quite do. I have my allotment and garden to keep me active but over the last few weeks even that has been neglected because of the rain. I need to lose some weight before too many of my new hens start laying and I have to get into some serious baking Good luck to those of you who have a go and if I can motivate myself I will join you. Seagazer
Having just finished my wii active (first time for a couple of weeks ) I know where you are all coming from. I don't have a lot of weight to lose but I have so many rolls of fat on my tummy its disgusting and don't even get me started on my very large bingo wings . OH was on Lighterlife last year and lost (in my opinion) far too much weight. He's being made redundant in a couple of weeks and has been comfort eating for the past 4 weeks or so. He must have put all the weight back on. I'm hoping that once he's in a more positive frame of mind he will spring back into action - not necessarily on Lighterlife though. Trouble is he does hardly any exercising or walking even. I'm hoping he will join me in some dog walking.
Yorkshire Pudding
I am so glad that I am not the only one who looks in the mirror sucks in her tummy and says 'that looks ok' I then see photos of myself and I am and think who's that chubby middle aged woman You certainly aren't, I'm exactly like that too. My mental picture of myself hasn't moved on in years, I buy bigger clothes rather than lose weight. Both me and OH are far heavier than we were a couple of years back and could do with losing some. The problem is we are both useless at it and so exhausted by work etc. that we don't seem to get on and do anything active enough at weekends to counterbalance the food we so enjoy. That's a feeble excuse! I kid myself that the garden and kids keep me running about, and OH plays football every week, but actually it isn't enough. But we are healthy and happy... so until that changes I can't see us getting the motivation together to reduce our calorie intake and up our exercise as we know we should. C&T
I too needed to lose a bit of weight, and was very unfit... So a while ago I signed up to Race for Life, so had a goal. I wanted to RUN that 5k, not walk. At the time I couldn't run 1/2km! Having that goal made me work - and I did it and managed to run that 5K in 35mins, and lost some weight. Was really proud of myself! I have more weight to lose, so I have now set myself a new target, and as of yesterday, I have committed to a 10km fun run at the beginning of November at Loseley House. Slightly scared now!! But I know that I need that motivation to get me out there, and I will try my hardest to run that course! Not a technique that works for all! But anyone that wants to join me on 1st November...
quinlan
Just an idea for anyone who is putting off exercise as they find it boring... Check out British Military Fitness (sound scary I know but everyone is really friendly) All outdoors and such good fun (and a good social side of it too is that they go to the pub after some sessions!!) Just an idea!

Ain't Nobody Here
I keep a big jar of mixed nuts in the kitchen and if I feel like a snack I'll have a (smallish) handful of them . I also like slices of cucumber with peanut butter on them (hard to spread though!). Perhaps I'm just strange .
