Chicken Licken
There was a thick groud frost here yesterday morning - I had to check it was real - and it was!! This morning it is raining like the flood. The chookies have retreated to the covered run and the dog is asleep on the sofa - we will be trying not to go out today!! At least it is warmer though

Ardene5
If that is the case that temps will be in the high teens we could be in for some cold nights. Also frosty mornings. At the moment our large raise up walk in covered run is surrounded by water from the rain we had here yesterday it looks more like a hen castle or winter palace. Hope everyone gets some nice weather. Egluntyne
It is absolutely glorious here now. Blue, cloudless sky, brilliant sunshine with a slight autumnal nip in the air. Just cleaned the hens out, and had to take my fleece off!
AnnieP
Aw! Send some of that sun this way. its grim, cold, wet and windy... but then again, Mel and Paul have just been, so no wonder....
mostin
Gorgious day up in Leeds as well, all the rain came last night. I cleaned out the eglu and the girls lay in the sun pretending to melt, but of course keeping an eye out for treats. We did pack the hot tub away though as due to the temparatures overnight it can't keep up to temp properly any more, so bye bye fantastic relaxation until next spring

Ardene5
Hi We have had a lovely warmish, sunny Sunday but it became cloudy around 6 p.m. When Ian took our 2 boxer dogs, Millie and Missy for a walk, around 4p.m today he said it was so clear that Morecambe Bay and The Lakes looked picturesque. But there was a start of a chilly breeze coming from the North, we live 400 yards from the sea, near to the beach at Knott End On Sea and Preesall. Where's that we hear you ask it is along the coast from Fleetwood and Blackpool going towards Pilling and Lancaster. Also we have noticed Canadian geese flying over, feeding locally before going onto one of the wet nature reserves which we have around the UK. They have been flying over for the past 2 weeks. Snowy
Where's that we hear you ask it is along the coast from Fleetwood and Blackpool I know where it is. One of my brothers lives in Poulton Le Fylde. And I know where it is - used to live in and around that area Our old house overlooked Morecambe Bay and on a cold, crisp autumn day we could see the Lakeland fells in the distance (really miss that view )
Helly Welly
We used to live in Morecambe, 100 yards from the sea front. Also lived in Lancaster for a few years. Small world eh?
The Dogmother
1.9deg here this morning at 6.15am and a thick frost. The grass was still crispy when I went to let the chooks out at 7am.... blooming cold!
Ardene5
Well the forecast for today might be right as it says rain and lots of it. So we think we might have a moat around The Henian Castle again. At else the princesses will stay dry as the cube and eglu both now live within the run. We had the cube outside the run but after 2 very wet days were the nest box was wet we have move it inside the run. There is plenty of space for it as the run is 20 ft( long) x 10 ft( wide) x 6 ft (high). We are please we got this made before the wet weather came if we had not made the run we think we would have converted the 12 ft x 8 ft shed to make a winter run for our girls. Best regards Ian & Valerie William & Harry Missy & Millie dogs 9 Hens + both inside The Henian Castle.

ali-s
Mild here today but very wet again. It is too warm in the house because the storage heaters are on, if I switch them off it is bound to be cold tomorrrow We travelled South to Penrith in Cumbria on Friday afternoon. There was snow on the tops of the mountains at Aviemore then we drove for an hour through blizzards The car thermometer was showing an outside temperature of -3oc

Ardene5
Well here we are another very wet night we just wonder what state the garden will be in at day break. Luckily when we built the Henian Castle we raised the land by about 7inches. This is a large area 12 ft wide by 21 ft long and a drainage channel behind the castle. The drainage is 16 ft long by 18 inches wide by 18 inches deep. Done because we know at very wet times our garden floods. But we still think there will be a moat around the castle from the drainage from the patio. Whenever we hear all the rain we always wonder how other Omleteers and their hens are faring in this rubbish weather. When we let the girls out we have got into the idea of counting them back in as we do not want to end up with a very wet hen who could have cold problems. So for us at the moment the true winter weather has not arrived yet but there is time yet !! best regards Ian & Valerie William & Harry Missy & Millie dogs 9 hens The Henian Castle containing +
