My Dad

Recommended Posts

I wasn't sure whether to post this or not but as you were all so kind and supportive over the last 8 months, I just thought I should let you know.

My dad passed away on Wednesday after 8 months of battling all his post op problems. We were all with him. It was pretty peaceful, he just stopped breathing. We're all heartbroken as you can imagine. We're going to miss him so much.

I have so many brilliant memories of my dad, he was so kind, generous, loving, supportive and lots of fun! I just wish he hadn't suffered so much in his last months, it just doesn't seem fair somehow.

It's been a hell of a year and we've tried to keep positive, as we always thought he would come home eventually, but it wasn't meant to be.

Night night dad, love you.

Someone sent this to me when my Dad died.

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!"

"Gone where?"

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout "Here she comes!"

And that is dying.

Hope this helps.
