Lovely photo :D

We had another hard frost overnight, but this time it is white and can be seen. Yesterday there was real controversy(sp) about the gritting. As some of you may know Gloucestershire bought a load of table salt to mix with the grit to make it go further and the suspision is that it doesn't work very well. there were a lot of nasty accidents around the county yesterday, the roads were as bad as we have ever known them.

I couldn't get the egg port open this morning, I had to bash the handle with a trowel until it loosened. I didn't want to put warm water on it because I thought it might freeze even more solid tomorrow then

-3deg here this morning and a hard frost on top of the snow that we had early evening.

We're forecast more snow coming from the north this afternoon, although after a lovely bright start, it has clouded over again now :(

I spoke to Louise yesterday - she's still not able to get on t'interweb at work, so can't access the forum. They've had loads of snow as you'd expect, with the difference that they know how to deal with it up there and the snow ploughs/gritters are even out at weekends keeping the roads clear. No 'snow dramatics' from Border folk then :D

DA has really taken a close up photo of my deep bed. :liar:

Beautiful photo, but doesn't it make you shivver! We had thick frost last night, but the sun is out. I see we are all supposed to get more snow today, although the west might be lucky. Then getting warmer for the weekend - YIPPEEEE!

Here, bang on on the border between England & Scotland, it's now snowing heavily, the side roads are white, and the pavement gritter has just driven past the house. We've had about an inch of snow fall in an hour and a half.

Just waiting on the groupcall from the school now, asking us to pick the children up!

I kicked the acutal eglu eggport door with my wellie boot and it loosened fine each morning and it was minus 14.5 here - I did not think I would get it open but was easy.

Colder than a nun's knickers out there now and we had a brief flurry of snow. I understand that it's snowing in York now.

We still have quite a bit of snow and ice - the sloping pathways in the park are like the north face of the Eiger. Our car park at work is lethal too - it's like Barristers on Ice out there!

Snowing and settling and lots more in the sky.

I'm soooooooo mad :evil::evil:

I'm supposed to be picking up a new car tomorrow morning and surrendering the old one in part exchange.

I won't be able to get it out of the drive at this rate.

The same thing happened two weeks ago and I had to rearrange a pick up date.

Rats !!!!! and DOUBLE rats !!!!!

Right I'm out with the snow shovel before it gets dark.

Don't know if it's worth it!!!

Not snowing yet south of Oxford but bitterly cold. I have to go to Birmingham tomorrow on the 6.36 train.... so if it's going to snow I wish it would hurry up and do it! Then maybe I could sit here an chicken watch all day!

OOOPS - Just saw 3 flakes - I think it's coming down the M40 from you, Claret! Maybe I'll get my wish after all.

Still clear here, but there is that pink tinge to the grey. Reminds me of an old childrens book I had. One story or poem for every day of the year. There were a lot of Richard Scarry drawings, but I don't know if he supplied the wording, but here goes:

"What is it going to do today?

Rain or snow" the bunnies say.

They look at the sky all woolly grey

And watch the way the wind is blowing

And suddenly they know

Because suddenly it's snowing.

Can't remember what day of which month that one turned up - January I think.

It has snowed up here fairly persistently all day, but has thankfully now stopped. Sadly not in time for Mr C to make it home, and he's staying with friends tonight rather than drive the country roads home. :( The snow caught everyone a bit by surprise up here today, and it was much heavier than forecast, so only the main A roads have been gritted.
