we have had falls on and off since around noon, most have settled in a thin layer and the girls water was starting to freeze when I brought it in at 5.45.

OH is supposed to be flying to Vienna tomorrow & YS has a bad cold. So closures at Heathrow and son's school would suit me fine; then OH can mind sniffly son, I can go to work, and we will all be happy

(except chickens and cat I suspect !)

It's snowing here only a little, it looks like someone has been around with the sugar sifter.

It does look wonderful but causes chaos. Kids are excited at the prospect of a day off school, the dog is as bad, he loves it and will spend alday out with the kids if there is loads of snow.

DS was taken back to school earlier, he won't mind too much, there's more chance of a decent amount of snow where his school is than at home

Am hoping there isn't too much snow, as it's so cold for my batties. Mind you if it snows hard enough, maybe this biting wind will die down & the layer of snow will insulate the run which is cover in tarpaulins. The healthy chooks don't seem to give a flying fig, the Orpies were dancing around in the wind earlier - very amusing to watch  ! I sat out in the garden with a cup of hot choc this morning watching the batties & it was cold within about a minute - not so nice :vom: Must remember to use the insulated cup in future!!

DD would rather it snowed so she had no school - would have to be really bad for DH not to take her in though!! Would have to try much harder than the mini ice dots that fell & settled earlier to get to "day off" level!!

That'll be lots of very unhappy people very late for work tomorrow then........and late home tonight too if they are unlucky enough!

Wasn't this cold snap forecast for heaven's sake  ?

DH's just been in to say the forecast for here is several inches of snow by tomorrow & if that's the case he's not taking DD to school -I sure as heck am not if he's not, she'll love a day off with her chookles!

DS will be most miffed as he was carted back earlier this evening!

Hope it's not too cold for my batties - the others all have intact duvets!!

Not only that but we had a severe weather warning come round work by e-mail on Friday ... and that's in the very area of the M25 :!::!:

By the way, we've had a thin covering of snow this pm which turned to crunchy ice as the sun set :!:

Hi Everyone

This I posted on Thursday last week so for those who have already read it look away now......................................

------------------------------------------------//---------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone

You all might remember the about quote I wrote at the start of The 1st Weather Thread.

Well think I could type it again because next week there will be bad winter weather coming our way from Russia.

Another cold snap is on its way in a winter that looks set to be the chilliest for at least 13 years, meteorologists have warned. The Press Association, said the "reasonably average" temperatures over the last fortnight would come to an end on Sunday night when bitter winds and freezing air from Russia were expected to move across the UK.

There is also a chance of snow for parts of the country in the early part of next week.

Chill winds from the continent will start to be felt across the south and east in the next couple of days, before a blast of bitterly cold air from western Russia sends the mercury plunging during Sunday night and the early part of next week.

So if this is the case have you got food etc for your hens.

Also have you got plenty of warm clothes to wear?

So how is the weather with you at the moment wherever you are in the world you are

--------------------------------------------//----------------------------------------------------------

I try to let people know if I get a warning about bad weather as soon as I know just hope you are all prepared , snow shovel, warm clothes, good shoes or Wellington's , food etc and this is just to get to your hens never mind going to work. Just hope you are not caught up in any problems next week.

Best regards

Ian, Valerie and Baby the hen
