chelsea
firstly I cannot believe how much they have rocketed in price I ordered some Fairy ones with my online Sainsburys shop today and they were half price, Sainsburys must have run out of stock and sent me full price ones at £8.78 for 42 tablets!! What dishwasher tablets do you use and I was thinking about changing to "own brand" makes as I begrudge paying nearly £9 for a packet of tablets. Do you think the own brand/cheap brands wash just as well?
Geoid
Don't get the 'value' own brand, they are terrible, but the normal own brand ones wash great, as good as the 'finish' brand.
Omletina Kyckling
I used to use Asda own brand, and then bought Finish Powerball, or whatever it's called, when it was half price and couldn't believe the difference, I thought they were much better. I only use the dishwasher when I have guests, though, so tablets last me ages. I went the other week and couldn't believe the price of them full price, so waited until something was on offer (Fairy, which are also good)
hillfamily
I use Waitrose own brand tabs - they do the job and I haven't found any difference between them and branded ones. THe thing I have found really makes a difference, is keeping the salt and rinse aid topped up, filters cleaned and I run a degreaser through the dishwasher every 6-8 weeks :D
mags
i found the eco ones good and not over priced I miss my disherwasher new house kitchen needs some major building work Mags
Chickvic
I use Aldi's own brand and never had any problems, I also use their dishwasher cleaner and run the machine through every month.
Snowy
Co-op own brand for me - and I stock up every time they are BOGOF or half price.
abwsco
I chop and change depending what's on offer, including value ranges but like Pam make sure salt and rinse aid are topped up and that the machine is cleaned regularly. Infact my machine won't work if these are out. I also don't do a wash below 55.
Cooks
I chop and change as well, when there's an offer I stock up a little. I use Aldi's dishwasher cleaner though it's just as good as the others.
Charlottechicken
Can you use soda crystals in a dishwasher? I have used them when handwashing glassware and everything comes out super sparkly
Helly Welly
I always use ecover as i don't want to be responsible for putting chemicals into the water. I have no problems with them.
Christian
I chop and change between Finish powerball and fairy liquitabs. I have tried own brands, but don't find them as good. The Lidl ones were terrible
Cooks
I used the Daisy brand at tesco and they were not that great either.
Cinnamon
I only use Finish, but when they are on offer I stock up, so I never really run out. I use the Fairy ones sometimes, but I had a batch that leaked, & dissolved all the other tabs in the bag I did get a refund, but it made a terrible mess in my cupboard. IMHO Finish are the best, & I never ever seem to have to pay full price for them
missuscluck
I use Aldi's own brand and never had any problems, I also use their dishwasher cleaner and run the machine through every month. Me the same. I have used other brands like finish. I cant see the difference. Tbh as long as they come out clean Im too busy to notice if they sparkle or not. bronze
I use a soda crystals and cheap washing powder mix.
Phoebe
I use powder as I think it works out much cheaper than tablets, and has less packaging (though i struggle every time with the child proof top !! )
theherd123
We used to use the eco-friendly ones and then my OH picked up some cheap ones from poundland as an emergency as we had run out. Out of interest i compared the ingredients and they were exactly the same and wash the dishes just as well so we now only pay 1 pound for 24 tablets! Milly
We use Lidl own brand powder as I find that tablets of any sort tend not to dissolve fully on the quick/eco wash. Not sure how much it costs butI know it's cheap and it lasts for ages. But I hedge my bets by using Finish rinse aid Milly
redbug
I use lidl 5 in 1 about 2.47(i think) for 40 tables they seem to be as good as any of the expensive brands.
Blackrocksrock
I use the FInsh powder as its cheap at about £2.99 for a huge plastic tub which lasts positively ages and if things are really dirty I add soda crystals to it and it is good for oven shelves - takes the dirt off good style. I used the 5 in one tabs and there was too much froth and it was coming out of my machine and when I checked with Bosch they said not to use them at all - 4 in one was the only ones to use. PapaJuliet
I have a small dish washer so the regular size tablets don't fit so I use Sainsury own brand powder (I think it's the only powder I've seen). It usually washes OK if it's not stacked properly and something doesn't get washed properly you have to wash it by hand because the food almost gets "baked" on. To be honest, I've only ever used the powder so I've assumed it's a problem with dishwashers rather than the powder I was using. I'm not always careful about keeping the salt topped up and it probebly needs a clean but I don't always use it... it's so small sometimes it easier to wash everything by hand rather than stack the plates and most of the mugs then wash all the pans and big things by hand. bluekarin
My preference is Fairy liquid tabs, but I make sure I store them in a plastic ice cream tub to keep them dry - I also had the leaking problem once so I always put them into the tub. I also quite like Finish tabs, but tend to buy whichever is on offer of these two brands. I'm not a fan of own brand as I find they make the glasses etc go squeaky (making my back shiver at the thought of it). Havin gsaid that, we now have a new machine and it's making the glasses etc squeak Maybe need to read the manual. Probably a setting somewhere needs changing. Redwing
IMHO Finish are the best, & I never ever seem to have to pay full price for them When we had a dishwasher we used to get the Finish Quantum ones and they were really fab, we never paid anything like full price either and we also stocked up when they were on offer
