I have just reported seeing a person in my year at school wih a knife. I was and still am really scared at what he might do to me and my friend if he finds out. It was a big kitchen knife as well so it wasn't even a small (less scary) one. I know that people carry knives sometimes for their own protection, but this has gone too far. Especially as the whole of my school year was in the main school hall at the time of the sighting.

 

I'm sorry guys, but i dont know what to do. Im so scared.

I am not suprised that you are scared - I would be too.

 

Make sure your parents know too, won't you?

 

I have had a similare thing just this past week too, & have reported something one of my girls saw in school (drugs), along with the childs name....its the only responsible thing to do

My mum knows, although shes not sympathetic. the friend that i reported it with is coming over later, and we will support each other tomorrow during school. Its jsut that these are very violent people that arn't afraind to turn on you and seriously hurt you.

You did the right thing Megan. Please make sure that the school are aware of your concern for your own safety and that they treat it seriously. If you don't feel that they are, then feel free to talk to your local police about it, they will have a schools liaison officer who is very experienced in these matters and can counsel/advise you.

 

You absolutely did the right thing and may have stopped him before he did any real harm and ended up with a sentence.

As has been suggested, why not speak to your form tutor, or the nominated Child Protection Officer.

I highly doubt they will find out it is you since the whole year was there. Speak to your head of year if you are still worried.

Well done for doing the right thing Megan. That was a serious offence that the person has done just having the knife at school. Knife crime has to be stopped.

 

The school will not disclose who has told them about it. Please try not to worry.

Blimey, what's his name?..... Michael Myers??!!! You did the right thing. Trust me. It's people like you who help to fight against this dreadful knife culture. However, i don't think the teacher you reported it to would be daft enough to compromise your anonyminity. Well done you. Proud of you. I would have done the same in your situation.

I just think that for goodness sake - I am 15 and in year 11! At risk of sounding like my mum, I just think that me and all my peers are being made to grow up too fast. My mum told me that when she was growing up, "Ooops, word censored!"ody would have told a member of staff, but with what I see on the news every day how could I not have told anyone ? I hope I did the right thing and the right people get booted out of school!

You sound very mature and wise for your age Kitbag. There have always been nasty people in the world. When we get older, we often put a rose-tinted spin on our younger years. It makes us feel better about the world when we feel helpless sometimes to do something about protecting those we care about.

 

You absolutely did the right thing. It takes courage to stand up for what's right. Too few people do it. But you did it. You did really well.

 

What happened when these people broke this other boy's leg? Did the school or the police know about that? And have you ever had any interaction with these people which made you feel frightened or bullied?

I can only echo what the others have said.

 

I don't blame you for being scared but am sure the teachers would not compromised your safety, especially if you raise it with them.

 

Too many people are too scared to speak up which is why people like this kid get away with things for so long.

 

We all need to take a stand against the knife culture but few of us are brave enough when confronted with it face-to-face.

 

I see young people who have been caught with knives nearly every day at work and very often they have done some realy harm because "Ooops, word censored!"ody has dared to tell on them before. Good on you!

You did just the right thing You just need to pretend that when it is mentioned in school, as undoubtedly it will be that you are shocked like everyone else and knew nothing about it.

Well done, I am somewhat mystefied at your mom's attitiude but she may just be worried for your safety. are these people being expelled? As I said on another forum there was a gun in my sons school last week. You're bravery may have stopped another teenager being murdered. well done you.

I'm also surprised by your mums reaction But you definitely did the right thing. As a parent with a child at secondary school in the same town your post was scary but it also reminded me there are many great teenagers around as well

 

It would be worth talking privately with the police if you feel concerned that the school may not do enough to protect you.

My daughter is 15 and in Year 11 too and I absolutely agree that you did totally the right thing - well done

 

Have to say that I would support my daughter, or any of my 3 sons, in a similar situation as these people have to be dealt with. It's easier to ignore them but braver and better to report it.

 

Please talk to a trusted member of staff if you are at all worried.

Good for you. Knives are never carried "for protection", and there are so man tragedies of someone getting into a fight which ends with a murder because they have a knife.

It isn't a case of "high spirits" or a "prank" we're talking about, knife crime is serious and in my opinion it won't belong before custodial sentences for carrying a knife will be the norm.

There have been a couple of letters in our local paper from mothers berating passengers on buses that have watched their children being beaten up or mugged. I can't believe that adults would just sit and do nothing.

 

I stopped a boy from beating up another one whilst surrounded by about 20 other boys jeering him on. I had my YS with me at the time and he was only about 5. There was a queue of cars at the traffic lights watching this going on.

 

It was only when I went up to the boy shouting that a man from a shop and another man got out of his car - blooming cowards. I was so incensed.

 

Trouble is my husband thinks I was silly and could have ended up getting hurt but I can't bear to see things like this going on.

 

We all need to take responsibility and stop these thugs.

Edited to add that the boys all had school uniforms on and I made sure that I phoned the school and informed them.

 

I've also had things thrown at my car by kids from the local school and I phone them up and complain too. We shouldn't have to put up with it.
