The Dogmother
Two years ago I had a seeemingly reputable builder do some work on my attic room; work that I had scrimped and saved for. The work turned outto be defective and I had a leaking attic room and slates falling off the roof. To cut a long story short, after many phone calls to get him back to effect repairs, he became increasingly reluctant and abusive. After much to-ing and fro-ing of letters and a disappointing court appearance where he shouted at me and was warned by the judge.... I finally have a judgement and I WON!!!!!! The letter was there when went home for lunch and I had to read it through 3 times just so it would sink in. I was dancing around so much that it upset the dog At last, I can get that room finished To say that I am relieved is a gross understatement. The Dogmother
Thanks Guys - it's been going on for 2 years now, and there's not a day that I haven't thought or worried about it.
Olly
Oh well done - what a relief! I hope you can get your money out of him quickly, if he doesn't pay up then go back to court to enforce it.

The Dogmother
Oh well done - what a relief! I hope you can get your money out of him quickly, if he doesn't pay up then go back to court to enforce it. The judgement says that he is to pay the amount due by 5th May, but I am aware that this isn't enforced by the judgement, so I'm prepared to go back to court for an enforcement order and will eventually involve the local press if necessary. When I get this money back, I can finally get the work on the room finished and move all the gubbins back in there - it has been clogging up the rest of the house for the last two years! The Dogmother
I certainly am Lisa. I have just made some BAFTA-ish phone calls of thanks to friends, builders and family who have helped and advised me work seems so humdrum after news like that. Yorkshire Pudding
That's fantastic Clare! If he has a 'reputation' to guard, your threat to involve the press should make sure he pays up.

The Dogmother
She's probably calmed down by now, but she wasn't sure what was going on! By coincidence, I have a massage booked tonight - a friend and neighbour is an aromatherapist and i look after his house and elderly cat when he goes away. I get a massage in return. I shall enjoy it even more now and relax properly.
