Omlet new product launch....what what what?!!!

Recommended Posts

I think the Classic as a design, is up there with the Jaguar e-type and Phillip Stark's lemon squeezer. The new one is more pedestrian, nice, functional, some lovely features, but not got the WOW factor imo. But a useful addition to the stable of Omlet products.

NOW - can we get on with the meccano type WIR? And the nestbox divider for the cube? And the maxi cube for 20 hens?

And, Omletina, I am in awe of your technological skills !!

I don't think it really is a 'cheaper alternative' The price difference isn't that much that it would the deciding factor for me.

But I do like that it offers different options to the classic :D

I keep thinking i've made my mind up and then something new comes out!

Not that i'm ready for chooks yet

I quite like it and the house itself is a better use of space than the normal eglu, as it dips down at the back, leaving less headroom. I don't like the fact that it doesn't have any other access door, but I suppose that saves money. I think it would also be easier to transport and lift the shell off than the 'classic' one.

I am intrigued by the run as it doesn't seem to taper out so much, so once we have the measurements I think it might be ever so slightly smaller. I like the new feeder better than the new drinker, as the hens wouldn't have to stick their heads in it, which mine didn't like doing at first.

I'd definitely buy one if I had the room, but only because it's yellow! :D

I think it looks like K9 without his head

I prefer my classic. I don't like the idea of no egg port, because if you neded to get a chicken out to look at the other could escape. When we had or white star the only way we could catch her was to shut her in the eglu on her own then get her out of the egg port, with this sytem she could have easily escaped.

I like the idea of being able to move the run door for easier access though.

I am not sure that all the work was worth it and the price difference is very little really.

I love the idea of the run opening along the side rather than the end.

Would make it much easier to find a home for in the garden.

If only the new run could attach to the original eglu... I might have been very tempted then to buy just the run...

Being able to but the end up against the fence, would mean that I had more room for more chickens!!

now if it looked like a mini cube I would like it as my cube has grown on me over the time I;ve had it the big heap of a man that he is, I just don't like this though it doesn't flow, the look isn't pleasing to me.

and yes Claret it does look narrower IMO, it looks a much cheaper version and as such should have a much cheaper price tag, not just an ickle bit.

i'm afraid i'm not a fan either- although i do like the door idea and the yellow colour, but the design isnt for me. I like the egg port and i even prefer the glug and grubs of the classic, the new ones look a bit flimsy on the pic.

I am gutted though as am trying to sell my classic on the for sale page and now worried that the price will plummet .
