Omlet new product launch....what what what?!!!

I don't like the new one... There's nothing wrong with it as such, if that was the first Eglu I saw I'd think nothing bad of it, and it's nice to have a different design and more choice for people, and a slightly lower price, but personally I love the curves and shape and egg port of the original...

Just thought, they should make an egg port in the side, and then you'd be able (assuming its symmetrical) to have it either side you wanted 8)

I've just told mother they're at the NEC, we couldn't get there today, but hopefully will at some point :)

As someone who has regular night time visits from fantastic Mr Fox, I really like the fact that the "classic" eglu is curved, and so it makes standing on it that bit more difficult. Also as someone who obsesses about making sure the egg port is properly closed at night because of said fox problem, I really don't like the huge door at the back either. I do like the idea that the door can be positioned wherever you like in the run as this must make cleaning it out a little bit easier..and the new glug and grubs are cool too..but hey..I can have them anyway as an addition to my "classic" Eglu. Overall, sorry Omlet...thumbs down from me too. When I bought my eglu 10 months ago If the choice had been between a Forsham ark and the Eglu Go I would have gone for the Ark (and missed out on meeting all the lovely people on the forum ) so hurrah for the classic! :D

Well, we are now on our way home after a very busy day. It was manic and the news is that we sold several Gos. several Cubes, a Pet Eglu, a Beehaus, but not one Classic Eglu! Everybody loved the Go and loved the price. We sold a Cube right at the end to a lovely lady, who said she was also planning to buy a Go for her grandchildren! We are working on Sunday also, so I need some rest tomorrow!

By the way, Claret, I gave your regards to Simon's botty!

I saw it today.

I like the flexibility regarding the door on the run. The whole roosting bars+nesting box can slide out, too, as well as the droppings tray. I'm not sure if the roof can come off for cleaning? I prefer the shape of the curved one, but that's personal taste. I'd consider it as a second house for my wir, if I ever needed one.

I got a leaflet, and thought the beehaus pic on the front was a proposed cheaper cube, too, but was soon put right on that front  .

The omlet stand was good, and I went there first (wonder why?!), but was disappointed with the overall show this year. I suspect it's becoming a victim of its own success. It was uncomfortably busy, I also felt there weren't as many different or interesting stands now. When it started there were more quirky, individual stands, but maybe they have been priced out of the market? I've been every year for a while, but doubt I'll go next time.

well .... its certainly ummm... interesting. Looks more like the beehaus shape. Anyone remember this thread from last summer about the article in the Times? Seems they weren't all that wrong about a cheaper version of the eglu after all ...

Yes Redfrock, I remeber that thread well. Thanks for bringing it up again.

Actually, I wonder if it would make a good cockerel box

that's exactly what hellymisscloud and I said when we saw it!

-It looks like the roof is slightly higher - so good for a tall boy (but not too tall for neck stretching? ... the good kind I mean not the 'terminating' kind :anxious: )

-it looks like the ventilation is somehow within the walls of the Go, so no obvious ventilation holes in the cover (letting light in)

-the back door coming off as a whole means easier to get out the big boy as necessary (or an orpington for that matter - she never fit through the egg port! )

yes Yes YES from us to the Eglu GO!
