*ahem* back on topic,

 

I've got one of those bird-feeders that stick to the window, and this morning just as I was leaving for work a blue-tit landed on it to eat some seeds - made my day!

Not my story but my bosses but I love it (no grammar comments please!)....

 

My boss picked up his parents from their London home to take them to the coast for the day, he had the sat nav on and as he drove out of London the sat nav lady voice was busy saying "turn left...turn right" etc.

 

When he got on to the motorway his Dad asked "why is it not saying anything now?" to which his mum said, "I think the lady is helping someone else now"!?

 

I think its completely delightful!

I've just "won" a BNWT pair of Berry Nadia crocs on ebay for £14.99 including P&P .....I can now have a pair for the chook run & a pair to wear out .....well it made me happy

My daughter in law has just rung to say she passed her driving test this morning. She had to wait an extra 2 months 'cos the last one got cancelled due to snow!

My little moment of win happened this evening on my way home. (It's a very little moment but it made me smile!)

 

I have to travel through 4 consecutive sets of traffic lights and tonight they were all green!

Normally I get stuck at at least 2 of them!

I popped into WH Smith today and there was a bit of a commotion going on

 

It turned out one of the assistants had become completely fed up with people (usually men) blocking all the aisles reading the magazines and then not buying them.

 

This is one of my pet hates as I get fed up trying to reach for a magazine and having a load of men just standing around reading.

 

The assistant was really ranting about the shop"not being a Library" etc etc

 

I think she was tipped over the edge by a gentleman who was caught filling out a competition form in a magazine and then starting to tear it out in the shop

Well I've just cheered myself up on a Monday morning by setting off all the fire alarms at work. Actually, it's my job to check them each week but it's usually a quick 5 second burst and that's that. Even doing that people moan about "oh my ears" "thats so loud" etc etc.

 

Well today it all went superbly wrong and the fire call point I was using, well, just pinged apart

 

Half hour later we managed to shut it up.

 

Fabulous fun and I'm getting lots of those looks but I think no one dare moan again .

One of our Working Girls (hatched by us in our incy), only 24 weeks old, is very badly lame. Although she's only able to hop around, she's bright and cheerful and eating; despite her being a Working Girl, we couldn't cull her so I took her to the Vet yesterday. (She's been termporarily moved from the Allotment to the spare Eglu in our garden, and we brought one of her sisters as well to keep her company).

 

Nothing obvously broken, area is warm so could be infection, gave me Penicillin tablets to give to her for the next 5 days while we wait and see if it heals. Gave her yesterday's tablets by poppig them in her beak.

 

This morning I had the tablet on the worktop waiting. I put Pogo (she now has a name, fatal) on the worktop, and before I could pick the tablet up she bent down and pecked it up herself.

She went into her English AS level resit today,turned the paper over & found that the 'unknown text' she had to analyse was in fact an excerpt from a book that she know very well & loves (The curious case of the Dog in the Nightime)

It made her day

Word of warning - my unseen in my English A Level was a poem by Rupert Brooke I also knew and loved. I got a D on that paper, which dragged my overall mark down to a B Still never worked out what happened, but it was probably my fault. Good luck with the resit!

We've got big changes going on at work and I spent this morning talking through them with the teams. They were really supportive and positive about what we have to do - IMMD

I'm feeling positive tonight - nothing I have done, but my SIL who has been very ill, is to be discharged from hospital tomorrow. She had a miserable Christmas and then collapsed with a DVT on 29th December, it's been very worrying so I am delighted for her.

I sponsor two of the young players in our junior (ice) hockey team. I don't often get to see them play but managed to get to a home match on Saturday.

 

One of my young lads made a beautiful play to set up a team mate to score so he got credited with an "assist". Then on the Sunday away match (which I was following via Twitter) he scored the first goal. That made my day... particularly since we we at a "senior" match and the team wasn't playing very well at the time.

 

My other young lad is younger so gets less ice time but I like the way he plays as well.

 

In fact, picking these two to sponsor makes me look as though I actually know something about hockey. (In fact I was told they were likely prospects who didnt have any sponsorship at the time so I went with the recommendation)

DS2 has played rugby for over 3 years.

He's far from the star, but loves it.

 

On Sunday he scored his first try EVER. I nearly deafened the coach, I was so loud!

Made my day.

Number one son is quite shy, but I've always made sure he will say "hi" to people. Yesterday my neighbour said he came over to chat with her for ages - and added "he's such a lovely boy and growing into a nice young man". That made my day.
