dancing cloud
One of my Song Birds, little Rose died today, having been adopted from a BHWT rescue last Saturday . Although she found food and water when she first arrived on Saturday, she made no attempt to eat or drink after that, just standing in one place until she was put somewhere else, and I had brought her inside so that I could encourage her to eat and drink, and keep her warm. She seemed quite happy on my knee watching the winter olympics! I had been syringing water into her beak since yesterday morning and gven her nutri-drops, but she didn't make any effort on her own, and she peacefully stopped breathing this lunchtime as I cuddled her. So sad that she didn't experience all the joys of freedom, but I do know that not all ex-batts survive the shock of transition, and at least she experienced love and care in the very short time she was here. Bye, bye little Rosie. Edited February 18, 2010 by Guest
Lavenders_Blue
Sorry to hear about little Rose. Some ex-batts just can't cope with the move, can they? But she's a lucky girl to have experienced at least a few days of freedom, and to have died a peaceful and dignified death. Sleep well Rose x
Tutti Frutti
Oh that's so sad DC But at least she spent a few days with you, enjoying cuddles - which she'd never known without you being there for her. I hope you're "OK", IYKWIM? Never easy to lose a girl and these precious rescue girls very quickly grab a special place in our hearts
