Alis girls
Its seems as soon as they go back to school they sucumb to some bug or other. ES 14 was sent home from school yesterday the youngest 9 is snotty and miserable. So both off sick. I'm a working mum so doublely difficult. One is on sofa and other upstairs. Strict instructions on no PS3 - telly only - lots of fruit and no fighting - some hope. Seems to be a competiton with mine on whose temperatuure is higher or whose snot is greener . Me well I'm snotty and tired but will soldier on to work like all we mums do.
chickencam
I hope that you all feel better soon. My DS got a horrible cold on the first week back, the rest of us caught it but it wasn't too bad, no one except OH has had a day off yet, but we have had a few miserable days. I am impressed that YD has got through 3.5 weeks at her new secondary school without bringing home anything nasty. There have been tummy bugs and colds running rife in yr 7. Her school takes it's pupils from a 25 mile + radius so they normally get all that's going.
chickenNutter
Just picked ES up from school feeling ill. I am working from home as I have had a nasty virus with stomach cramps and shivery achy flu-like symptoms since Saturday. Feel like chewed string, but as you say, just soldiering on! Calamity Jane
My DD has been at uni for one week and has what they call 'Freshers Flu'. She is battling on - good girl.
Charlottechicken
I went back to work after 12 weeks off recovering from surgery, and caught a cold off my new boss! After 4 days of a sore throat realised I had just made litres and litres of elderberry cordial so started drinking that. Cold went with a whimper and never developed into anything more than a sniffle, thankfully! I'm still drinking the elderberry cordial

ubereglu
I've gone down with a cold too. Started out with a sore throat, then a runny nose and lots of sneezing and now it's more of a head cold...not fun.

jlo
I think that the first post sums up this time of year - they go back to school and then it is one thing after another until about March. DS got man flu the weekend before last. He felt shattered for a while but did go to school on the Monday. All last week the teachers have been telling him to die a little more quietly as his cough has been horrendous. I have been surprised that I haven't been called in to take him home. He feels better in himself but keeps hacking away. I had a cold all last week but it hasn't been too bad. DD has managed to avoid that but she got a mozzie bite on her back which was just where her waistband rubs against her skin. It has since become infected and I am pretty certain that it has turned into impetigo. The doctor has given her some cream but it is looking really nasty. Roll on spring! Space Chick
I have a rather awful mucas cough, but feel fine. It's irritating though, as I keep waking up coughing, and am getting on peoples nerves in work as I keep coughing. Weird thing though, the coughing has made my teeth hurt
The Dogmother
Rosie and I alternated a bad cold a couple of weeks back. She's been left with a bit of a cough, but is otherwise OK.
bluekarin
Two of my three and myself were poorly a few days into the start of the new term. Sore throats, headaches, feeling sick, and a cold. I still have a snuffly nose, so not sure what that's all about! I just love how schools are a breeding ground for all sorts of lovely new germs and illnesses
Cinnamon
Well, we have fun & games her tonight. My eldest was fine, laughing & happy. Within the space of a half hour, she is clammy, pale, hot & shivering, has up-chucked,has a screaming headache & can't focus her eyes properly. it looks like 'proper' flu to me
chickencam
Take care I hope you all feel better soon. Just keep an eye on your daughter Sarah, because bugs like salmonella can mimic flu, as can other nasty tummy bugs. Hugs to all.
scarlettohara
Spent all day yesterday in the rain with son and horse (last event though hurrah !) and feel really pants this am - headachy and snuffly
ClaireG
I've just got over a chest infection and not being able to hear properly for nearly 2 weeks. Every time i get any sort of cold like thing i seem to get blocked tubes and can't hear. It' s so frustrating. Anti b's, ear drops and steam seemed to have cleared everything now, although i am still getting headaches and mild sinus pain. Seems there are lots of nasty bugs about. Look after yourselves everyone.
Alis girls
Hope everyone is on the mend. Booked sons into Docs as they are asthmatic and suffer badly when colds etc strike, little un is complaining of ear ache and is calpoled and nurofened to the hilt. hes grumpy and loving one min and next hates me. I went back to bed this am - so unlike me. Just hope OH doesnt get it as hes had pneumonia in past and was very ill. Get well soon everyone
TheGirlsMum
We seem to have a sickness bug here it's rife at school. Youngest threw up at Brownies last Wednesday then absolutely fine, eldest performed Monday after school then hubby topped the lot he threw up at work on estuary over the side of the boat but he managed to lean on the transmit button on his VHF radio whilst leaning over the side and transmitted his episode over the radio waves to all listening.
