Indian Summer!

Recommended Posts

It has been so warm here today, I changed all the beds and done loads of washing, haven't really had time to enjoy it and got rather hot doing the ironing, but it has been fabulous.

One of my new girls (silver sussex) who is only about 25 weeks old decided to go broody yesterday, the first broody we have had in 4 and half years of chook keeping. I kept throwing her out of the Eglu and she decided that dust bathing in the sun was better than brooding, until quite late in the afternoon. She has gone to bed with a wrapped ice pack so hopefully she will be cured by morning.

Back in the office tomorrow but I will try for lunch in the park :D

Golly that does seem very young. When do they start to lay :?: I have a young sussex but didn't expect her to start laying till the spring. Alli x

She has been laying for about a month, she is a hybrid and quite large already, she has lovely feathers but has removed quite a few of the downy tummy ones

It's Wonderful!

Unfortunately baby has nothing to wear, as grown out of all her summer stuff, oh well - at least she can get away with just wearing vests!

Just wish I didn't have a cold... :(

Enjoy today - I am thinking washing the bed linen and cleaning out the chicken coop! The joy of maternity leave...

It is wonderful but its so hot in here. We can only have the little top windows open as the kitties are desperate to get out. Every time someone goes out of the front or back door there are thunderous sounds of eight little feet running down the hallway. They have their next jabs at the start of the week but I'm going to keep them in until they've been neutered in November.

I am enjoying the blue sky though. :D

I thought it may still be nice with you folks down south. Not many on the forum-must be out enjoying the weather :D The only good thing is all this rain must be great for the garden. The onions and garlic I planted a few weeks ago will love it. It's like a mini monsoon  No break yet for leek planting :(
