Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Flips the caps closed on bottles of shampoo & shower gel in the shower so that water doesn't get inside them.

 

Picks up the cardboard roll from used toilet rolls off the bathroom floor and puts it out for recycling.

 

Ditto aforementioned bottles once they're empty.

 

Picks up Mr Griffins dirty clothes from the bedroom floor.

 

Empties the cats litter trays.

 

 

These are the things that have annoyed me today. These are the jobs that EVERYONE in this house CAN do but I'm the only person who'll actually do it. If I didn't, it'd never get done. What do you do that "Ooops, word censored!"ody else bothers with? Or is it just me who lives with a house full of lazy bones?

Putting the bins out. On the very rare ocassions that Him Indoors puts them out he announces with a fanfare that 'I have seen to the bins for you.'

Ditto the bins...in spite of the fact that all the neighbours bins are out before we get home from work (not for nothing this area known as Costa Geriatrica) and he drives past them all on his way home he NEVER remembers...

 

does the cooking and buys food... why am I the only one in the house who is eating her supper and wondering what to cook for tomorrow?!

 

and to balance

 

i am also the person who rarely manages to screw caps back on properly...that does include milk marmite and toothpaste, and even I find this an irritating habit......but hey...no one is perfect......!

Puts his dirty plates in the dishwasher and helps to unload it if it needs doing when he's home.

Cleans - he's already decided we're doing it tomorrow. He'd have done it this afternoon as he finishes work at lunchtime on a Friday but he had other things to do.

 

However, the only time he cooks unless I'm ill is on Christmas morning when he does us bacon butties.

My OH does the dishes occasionally, puts dirty clothes in the basket and will put the bins out but that's about it .

 

Hoovering - no

Ironing - no

Shopping - no

Cleaning - no

Taking things upstairs that are sitting on the stairs waiting to be taken up - no

Putting things away that he's used - no

Cleaning the hob & work surfaces after doing the dishes- no

switches off unnecessary lights and computers,

collects up used mugs and plates from around the house,

writes down stuff that we need/have finished on the shopping list (OH seems to think I am either psychic or that I check every item in the house just in case it has run out)

No, he's not alone! my OH is the same but swap cleaning for cooking - occasional cleaning but he does do 90% of the cooking....I only bake now, and he's starting to muscle in on that as well

Mr Potts used to be really untidy - chaotic paperwork everywhere - then had to spend four months in hospital. I opened all his post whilst he was away and filed it in separate files in date order so he came home to tidyness.

He's now reformed untidy person, which can be absolutely unbearable, but he also makes lots of tea, is a really thoughtful dad, makes a mean risotto from time to time and has arranged for a cleaner once a fortnight. I have to point out he has always been very tidy with his clothes - he reads the forum from time to time! All in all, it's a fair swap.

My OH also has blinkers to these things.

 

A couple of years ago, after an illness, I told him he needed to help and do his own ironing and help with the cleaning (we both work full time), so for the past 2 years we've had a cleaner that comes in once a week, and a man who collects our ironing once a fortnight and I tell you what, I love him to bits for it, as it has freed up some of my time

I do the bins which really annoy me, living in sunny mid Wales we have no wheelie bins, I have to empty the inside and outside bin. Then sort out the recycling! He is still in bed when I leave for work. If I didn't do it, it wouldn't get done!

 

I could go on and on but an example is, I am coming home late, I tell him to make spag bol for tea, all the stuff for doing it was in the fridge. I get home and he's tucking into some chilli... I ask why didn't he make the spag, he thought I must have got it wrong cos there was only chilli (left overs) in the fridge..... Heaven forbidd he had to make it from scratch! Also there was only enough chilli for him! I cannot possibly repeat what I said...

You are all very lucky - my OH does absolutely nothing in the house, and I mean nothing! I only get a cup of tea made for me once in a blue moon, and that's it.

Our two dear sons live away from home now, but they are chips off the old block when they do come back - interestingly they are both very domesticated when it comes to the homes they share with their OHs

I know I only have myself to blame - I should have started as I meant to go on when we got married 32 years ago - but my MIL did everything for her sons, including picking up their shirts, socks and unmentionables from the floor where they just dropped them - and I seem to have turned into her!

My Husband is let off - he built the house,is currently redecorating it & is great at maintaining both it & the garden

 

I guess we all have our roles & strengths,don't we? - that is what being a family & running a household is all about.

I don't do bins,so that is down to him too.

Crikey! Am I the only single parent on here? I do everything I get the 3 littlies to take turns doing the dishes. It's a bit hit & miss to get them to take the dirty laundry to the wash basket.

Nope I am mostly on my own, that is why when HE is home HE drives me beserk. I am not his domestic slave, chef, or bottle washer. He is OH and is home for Christmas not long now.

But He can't find the washing basket ,Wipe the shower down , caps on toothpaste, towels on the floor , put a newspaper in the recycle or keep anything tidy. I hate getting cross with him because he is never home for long but HE drives me mad. Crumbs from sandwich making, wet surfaces and chopping boards from tea making, butter dish with no lid on , the list goes on and on.........Please Why are Men like this ? My DD grumbles so much too, is it mothers who have ruined them or is it genetic ? Anyone have the answer ?

OH complained today that the PC was really dusty. His PC, not mine . To be fair, he did get a cloth and brush and have a go at cleaning it .

It's just me here so I usually do it all, but Rosie does help when asked although she has to be asked rather than volunteering.

 

Phil turns up on Saturday night for 24 hours and is great at doing anything other than cooking, which suits me. He walks in and says 'OK what needs doing?' my kind of bloke

I even bought one of those rather naff stairbaskets thinking it would make it eaier.

I get fed up of moving carboard loo roll inners, why is it easier to put them on window ledge than to put them in the bin? That is if they even get replaced.

 

I am lucky though I have a hubby who will muck in, we share most jobs, but washing and ironing is all mine as are the litter trays and bathroom cleaning, he deals with any car related jobs usually and will clean out the chickens. I do get frustrated with him for leaving things lying around particularly socks, he never squashes plastic bottle for recycling and anything that is forgotten is always my fault.

 

The children have set daily jobs which don't amount to much and are done fairly badly most of the time, we do try to get them involved as much as we can though, training is very important.
