LolaLayla
Do you have a little trolley you could use for your PO trip. It may be best not to overdo things. With regards driving I would look on the DVLA website. It should give you guidelines and this was where we used to point patients to if they had any questions. Things are so much stricter these days - I remember having a section on a Thursday, getting out on the Sunday and driving down town because I didn't have a dress for DD (had had DS before and was desperate for girly things) Obviously a bit of postnatal brain there
The Dogmother
Sorry to hear that you've been under the knife too Janty - hadn't seen you around lately Cxxx Emma - everyone heals differently and then there's a possible infection to factor in. I wouldn't assume that you will be able to do things and just see how it goes and any extra will be a bonus. A lot of it depends on your basic fitness, so any weight loss if necessary or exercise would help your recovery after the event. Taking Arnica REALLY helps I had a hysterectomy 3.5 years ago and am pretty fit but it took me a while to get my stamina back - the hangover from the anaesthetic was the worst part so if they could do yours under an epidural you'd be up and about much quicker. I just sat myself small goals and kept moving around.

craftyhunnypie
Hiya - my pre op was a bit worrying. All ok until my ECG, which for some reason was borderline??? The nurse asked if I'd had any children - as that can cause it. No I haven't. Or if I'd ever had any black outs of breathlessness. No I haven't. She couldn't understand it, based on my weight, fitness & age. She went to see the aneathetist (sp?) to see if I was ok for surgery. She was gone a long time. When she came back she said the anethetist said that he thinks my gallbladder is affecting my liver, which in turn is affecting my heart. But the op is safe to go ahead with. However, this has scared me! So all ready for Monday. Got to be at the hospital for 7.30am. Emma.x
Willow
Good luck for Monday Emma! Anaesthetists are cautious so if he is happy to go ahead he must be confident you'll be ok.
Plum
Sounds like you'll be in safe hands. Scarey to know it's effects on other parts of your body. Soon be over and hope it resolves the things they've found.x

craftyhunnypie
Thanks everyone! Almost packed my bag. Got some nice pj's yesterday from Matalan. Had already got some nice Cath K style ones, but realised yesterday how hot it was in the hospital - so have bought some alternative ones. Spotty dotty & butterflies - very me. craftyhunnypie
The gallbladder fairy! I think she came the other day & also today. The other day, my mum sent me a sweet little cuddly bunny called Emily Rabbit & 2 DVD's. One is Annie the musical ( my favourite), the other is all the episodes ever of Bagpuss! My mum knows me well! Today - I had through the post from my sister a set of L'Occitane soap & handcream in Cherry blossom. A totally gorgeous smell! I have saved the cards to open after my op. Getting a bit fed up of not being a well lady now. Worried about the ECG I had & today I had a letter from my doctor's surgery asking me to make an appointment to see the doc about my blood test results... from the blood tests I had about 2 or so weeks back! Now that has me wondering what else is wrong?! I can't go the docs until I'm recovered from my op. Emma.x

pips_pekins
Best wishes for Monday and get well soon. I have recently been scheduled for this op, although I have not been anywhere nearly as poorly as you. I have asked everyone I know that has had it and they all say they have had no problems since and it has made such a difference
