charly1979
I seem to have developed a snow OCD and it has stepped up a gear looking out the window is no longer sufficient, yes I am now having to go outside just to see. Chook n Boo Mum
As the forecasting sites appear to be so rubbish at their job, perhaps someone on here can tell me.....the chances of my DD getting from Surrey (caterham just off the M25) to Chester tomorrow for a hockey tour, which they have been looking forward to for weeks..... Answers on a postage stamp please We have icing sugar snow at the mo, having had all last week's offerings washed away by the rain & the firm frozen ground replaced by soggy, sticky, mudplane-able goo....did someone mention spring? Yes please....
Egluntyne
I wouldn't risk it myself. We are supposed to be having a further heavy fall oop north tomorrow.
clucker1
Well, more snow here last night which wasn't forecast surprise surprise. Just watched the BBC's national forecast, the online one.....and I just hope they are wrong about tomorrow. I am surrounded by lethal sheet ice on the roads and pavements and have had enough of it! The Dogmother
No more here, looks to be melting too... let's hope for a gradual thaw!
Saronne
Still very cold here and the forecast is for more heavy snow tomorrow - before it all turns to rain on Saturday. I'd rather have the snow, thanks.
abwsco
Overview for us tomorrow is light snow mid afternoon, followed by sleet then heavy rain. Most of what we have had so far has melted but it's still on the grass so I can't go and practice golf. Lesson on Sunday will be cancelled as well unless it melts
Chook n Boo Mum
I wouldn't risk it myself. We are supposed to be having a further heavy fall oop north tomorrow. Obviously their safety is paramount.....but how disappointing for them ......and her brother who was planning a sister-free weekend, the highlight of which was a chicken kiev dinner on Saturday and roast chicken for lunch on Sunday...she eats almost anything except chicken We will wait for the school's decision this evening as they are due to leave at 7am tomorrow..... Chook n Boo Mum
Best of luck. x What's it like up there today? Latest news (yesterday evening) was that they would leave later than originally planned...and I've heard nothing since.....
The Dogmother
Sha, I'd check online for the web cams for that route; see what the conditions are like.
lillybettybabs
The old farmers think we are going to have MORE snow here in South Northamptonshire! The hens are not impressed, Only Charlie will venture out onto the snow.
The Dogmother
None of mine have been out since the snow; they hate it A friend has just told me that we're forecast more today, then that's it apparently.
chickencam
snowing here at the moment and we were forecast heavy rain for this afternoon.
The Dogmother
That's interesting, the BBC weather forecast has downgraded the 'snow event' for tonight.
Charlottechicken
Not snowing here yet However, we are surrounded by piles of snow everywhere, and none of the pavements are yet clear. All are solid, compacted snow which is now two inch thick ice! I've cleared part of the garden path by dropping the garden shovel hard down on it to break it, this did not work in places, and have salted, but solid ice remains Even near work (very busy financial area of Brum) the pavements are solid ice. Thawing ever so slowly today as it is still below freezing, but will probably re-freeze tonight OH determined to go to Plymouth tomorrow for a rugby match

The Dogmother
And just when we've seen tarmac on our road for the first time in over a week....
Lavenders_Blue
I've just come back from walking the dog up at the country estate up the road where the paths are metalled. After a whole week of farm/estate vehicles passing through the paths were like glass and I've skidded my way round like Bambi on ice Tango took the sensible option and zoomed about in the fields instead, chasing the pesky crows who had dared to land there. I could do with some Yaktrax really, but doubt they would be any good on really heavily compacted snow? I don't know if there would be enough give for them to dig in
The Dogmother
Mine have been great on the really hard snow and even on some sheet ice we have. I'd be on my bum without them! One tip; get the ones with the velcro strap.
Lavenders_Blue
Right, one pair of Yaktrax coming right up then!
Egluntyne
Snowing heavily here. Tarnation.
The Dogmother
It's trying to do something here. L_B there are destructions for them on the site, DO NOT wear them on shiny floors or you'll end up on yer bum! The paths up our road are like the north face of the Eiger, and it's on a hill too. I'm the only one who can get up the road in one piece.
Angie
It started here at 5.50pm and it is windy and very very cold the wind chill must be well in the minus.
The Dogmother
It's windier here now and Rosie's just left for her dad's and said it's snowing slightly.
