too pretty to work

Recommended Posts

There is a woman in the news today who is apparently so gorgeous that men lose their minds around her and women are so jealous that she can no longer work. She has been forced into living an incredibly expensive lifestyle at her parents' expense. The world can be so cruel!

DD says she too is too pretty to work. Unfortunately for her we are neither rich nor stupid.

Feels like we got a time capsule back to the 1970s.

I'm can't believe she's bright enough to have a PhD and too stupid to be able to deal with some unwanted advances

It's also interesting that the women who say this stuff seem to be averagely attractive at best

As Olly says, this has to be a publicity stunt.

But as a certain Mr Ratner found out - there *is* such a thing as bad publicity

Don't worry love at 33 you only have 10-15 years tops before men stop noticing you  problem solved

Why is it always the women who are trying too hard to look glam that think they have this problem, she is attractive but not beautiful

Most of us, I think, feel a degree of sympathy for someone when we find life hasn't dealt them a perfect hand. However, as I get older, I find that somewhere in everyone's past is an obstacle that I wouldn't personally like to have had to deal with. In other words, we all have our own pet millstone around our necks, and it's just a matter of what we choose to do about it.

This young lady may well be right. Physical beauty certainly colours how others perceive someone, and not always positively. However, she has chosen to use it as an excuse rather than adopt a more positive attitude. That's a shame. Nonetheless, if she has the choice to not work and live of inheritance instead, I won't begrudge her making use of that position, although I'd prefer not to have it rammed down my throat. In the end, though, I suspect that if she doesn't start using the time to better herself then she'll end up in later life feeling much less fulfilled and not in a good position to do much about it.

As stated by Tom Lehrer, "Life is like a sewer; what you get out of it depends on what you put in."

I reckon if she had gone to work with no make up, her hair tied in ponytail and sensible trousers and tops with a lab coat on top she would have been fine and dandy!!

But we all know this isn't the point, she's obviously a model wannabe who can coast through life on her parents cash cow..... Nice work if you can get it, and beats the rigours of 9-5

This thread has been a real inspiration to me. I've decided I can't take the bullying and persecution any longer. It's demeaning. I'm downing tools and going on strike today. I've erected a large banner outside my office stating 'ON STRIKE - TOO PRETTY TO WORK'. I'm heading off to the spa with hubby's credit card to help me get over the stress of it.

Oh hang on, I work at home by myself. And I've still got my pyjamas on. I'm not going to get away with it am I? Shucks....

I doubt she's tried very hard to make friends, from her quotes it sounds like she's the sort of person that would go around work talking about how gorgeous she is and how much her outfit cost. More likely that would cause people to not like her than the fact she is attractive looking. I wouldn't want to invite her for lunch or drinks :?
