Luvachicken
My lovely, beautiful Queenie got put to sleep today. She has been going further down hill the last week or so and then on Friday she couldn't get up the ladder to go to bed. I kept her indoors in the broody cage on Saturday because we were going to be out all day and I didn't want her stuck until we got home late at night in the cold. She has always been my favourite - I know we shouldn't have them - but she was friendly and cuddly and had the most gentle of pecks. She never went broody and let Suzie and Gemma snuggle under her when they were small. It has been so hard to decide what to do - one minute pecking about looking normal, then sitting hunched and sleeping, and I knew she wasn't likely to get better. The vet said it was the right thing to do but still it was one of the hardest choices I've had to make. Sleep tight my lovely Queenie xxx

Well done for making the right and brave decision in the end. I know how hard it is to do. She's ok now though.

Daphne
I echo what everybody else has said, you were a great keeper, and its because you cared so much that it is so sad now Queenie had a great life with you, and she gave you a great experience in return. I hope you feel a bit better soon. RIP Queenie
Luvachicken
Thank you so much for your wishes everyone, you have all made me feel a lot better, although it did make my eyes water a bit. I can't believe how upset I was yesterday. I guess because there was an element of doubt about what I did made it worse. The vet did say I did more than most people would have done for Queenie. I did feel a bit better about it today knowing that she wasn't trying to keep warm out in the cold wind.

Valkyrie
[[[[[hugs]]]]] It's a horrible decision I agree. Had to do that with my lovely Mini earlier this year. But although it's sad, I was happy that she didn't suffer - I did as much as I could do and the vets are very kind to both animals and owners here (not Hook - the male vet was a complete and utter nasty bloke - so I go to Ark in Old Basing). Happy hunting in the Mealwormsallover Land in the sky Queenie.
