I don't know what's happened but I just can't get into it this time round. I usually look forward to it for about a year and then live it for the two weeks.

Week one is usually my favourite.

Good luck TeamGB though anyway!

Anyone out there on the forum loving it? I hope so. The athletes work so hard I feel a bit guilty for my lack of enthusiasm.

I know what you mean, I don't feel very inspired either :( It doesn't help that several of the key events are in the middle of the night or that the event I did watch (women's cycling road race) was shocking, it made me feel ill. Somehow the build up just hasn't been as engaging or pervasive as usual :(

I've never been a big fan of sports, but the TV commentary seems even more banal than usual this year. And last night when I turned on there was a really irritating short video which kept cutting between Team GB gymnasts and people doing gymnastics on the street - made me want to turn off immediately.

Well done to Adam Peaty and Jazz Carlin and good luck to Team GB but I think I'll only be watching bits on the news. Besides I have two more whole series of The Good Wife to watch ...

I have enjoyed the rugby 7s (spoiler later in this post) and got up to watch the swimming last night because we had been listening to 5live and I was awake so decided that I may as well watch it. Glad that I did, but I have been tired all day. I have been following the tennis too.

OH wanted to watch the semi final of the women's rugby 7s this evening, we had missed it by watching the tennis, so decided we would wait for it to come on a catch up stream, when it did, they introduced it with the caption, 'watch team GB get thrashed by New Zealand' somewhat spoilt the suspense of it! I though it was a very odd thing to do, there will be lots of people catching up with their favourite sports in an evening, after working all day!

Not as into it as we were in 2012, but I think that is natural because it is a long way away with a time difference, although that is less than I thought it would be. There were also more GB teams last time because we were hosts.

Haven't watched it, not a big sports fan.

But we do have an interesting incident. Yuri van Gelder, gymnast and self proclaimed Lord of the Rings, was sent home after not returning in time and drinking alcohol.

He missed the last games because he was caught doing cocaine... :wall:

Oh dear, naughty Yuri... he might like to reconsider his nickname :lol:

I've been watching as much as I can but usually only really get into it once the athletics start.

I've loved the rugby 7's even though I'm not normally a big rugby fan. I like the gymnastics too(felt so sorry for Louis Smith :( ) but haven't caught the tennis so far. Not enough hours in the day!

Wow! Third in the medal table :dance:

It's good to see that we're doing well across such a wide range of sports.

Lovely to see the reaction to the girl on the trampoline winning a surprise silver... and of course, Bradley Wiggins. So funny to see him during the national anthem- naughty boy :lol:

I'm thoroughly enjoying the sportsfest, although I'm too tired to stay up late to see a lot of things. I'll be dipping in and out of the test match today too. Don't understand everything there is to know about cricket, but it's growing on me. I just love listening to TMS!

I think the time difference is making it not feel so exciting. I have watched the velo action, a bit of gymnastics, but not a lot else. I usually love watching the swimming, diving, velo, gymnastics and track. I've been away for a week, so not seen any until the past two nights, and I need to find a timetable somewhere so I don't miss any of it. Its fab having so many channels, but a pain trying to find out which one is showing what.

I wondered if a feeling of anti climax is normal the olympics after hosting :?

I'd watch the rowing but I can't stand John Inverdale. The commentary at Henley regatta is perfect, they need whoever does that commentary. Made up for the O'Donovan brothers, they are a delight 8)

I am in Canada so the time difference is less of an issue making things easier to engage with, and we should get to see the long jump and hepathlon quite comfortably tonight :D However, I have just seen the semi finals of the men's 400m and our guy literally didn't get a mention from start to finish, despite finishing 2nd :( The coverage is naturally Canada focused, so we get plenty of volleyball and hockey  And far too many adverts.

DS and I ended up staying up until 2:45am. We watched the gold medal men's singles tennis match, well done Andy Murray, I do hope that some of his critics will be rethinking their position now! They said on BBC 1 that we should stick with them for the medal ceremony, but it may take a while. They went over to the athletic and we kept waiting for the ceremony, only to find that it was shown on BBC 4 but they didn't tell us  . Never mind, we did get to see some great track events including the 400 meter record breaking performance and Usain Bolt. We also saw Jess Ennis Hill's medal ceremony and her grabbing Usain Bolt with the other Heptathlon medalists for a selfie :D

Have been a bit tired today though, off to bed soon.

I stayed up to watch the tennis, albeit squinting at my phone screen with the volume right down in bed whilst OH was fast asleep. Not the best way to watch a match like that but I have to be up at 5am, so if it had gone to 5 sets, I may well have had to give in to my tiredness.

I stupidly decided to hang on for the medal ceremony, which took an age, but the 100mtres final was a stretch too far. I love Usain Bolt but sort of knew that he would romp home to victory anyway :D

Can anyone tell me why someone (an Argentinian supporter I think) was ejected close to the end of the tennis? I couldn't hear the commentary to find out why.

I loath all sports & have avoided the Olympics like the plague again this year, but even I was happy to hear that Nick Skelton won gold for show jumping.

He was a childhood hero of mine :D

Happy for gold winning rower Will Satch too, who is from Henley & one of the nicest, & fittest blokes I know 8)
