Egluntyne
Look at the berries on the Holly bush at Egluntine Towers. It doesn't usually have so many so soon. What do you reckon....are we going to have lots and lots of snow?

chelsea
I love looking at snow at night. When you look out and the snow is glowing bright and even in the darkness of night it seems "light" outside.

Mrs Frugal
I go by the old saying "Many sloes, cold toes" and this year the sloes are plentiful and huge . I'm hoping for very cold toes this year .

Christian
I have just flown with a Captain who's wife works for the Met office in the long term forecasting dept (?) They are predicting a really cold winter, with snow! Love the snow! Can't wait to 'phone work and tell them i'm snowed in and can't make it! So it looks like your 'berry' theory might be right Egluntine!!

KeymerKim
Yaaaaaay! I love the snow. Our holly bush is full of berries too. The last week has been freezing here with the cars needing s"Ooops, word censored!"ing every morning. I'm gonna dig up some of my parsnips and swedes this afternoon as they've now had a good "frosting" to see what they are like. Roxanne
Just read yesterday that the Bewick swans have arrived from Siberia 11 days earlier than last year and this is the earliest date since records began. The 'all knowing' authorities on the subject say this is a sign of an impending harsh winter. Our crab apple and pyracantha (sp?) are groaning with berries which I understand means we are in for a cold one!! Must order a new fleece - the dog sleeps on my old one! Make some Crab Apple Jelly....it is absolutely divine. The chopping and de-stalking was a bit of a bind, but I did it in front of the telly and it was certainly worth the faff. Have a go!
