Not everything to do with lockdown is bad. For instance, I have to work from home at the moment, meaning I have my garden in front of me at all times. If that weren't the case, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to capture this shot of a woodpecker chick freshly out of the nest being fed by its parents. Nothing, IMHO, quite so beautiful as parents looking after offspring.

I have received a lovely hand painted fan with a beautiful daffodil on it! And some cadburry eggs, which probably won’t make it till the expiration date... 😉

Have made this unicorn as a gift for a former student who will be getting her diploma tomorrow. She made me a little crochet chicken when I left the school last year!

People are so lovely; I stopped yesterday to give first aid to a bloke who had taken off a big strip of his scalp when he collided with a road sign. While I was kneeling on the ground beside him, stemming the bleeding - two ladies came over to offer assistance. One walked the man's distressed 9 year old daughter home to her mum, the other brought water and blankets. Then a police officer stopped to help, and when the ambulance hadn't arrived after 40 minutes, he ferried the injured man (and me, compressing the top of his head) to A&E. Made a bit of a mess of his patrol car! The injured man's wife has just called round and given me a JLP gift card as thank you, they are so sweet...... he has a monumental headache. Faith in folks restored. Karma will bite the bum of the youth who saw the accident, laughed and walked on by.

I’ve been so excited because my present was massive - and inside is brilliant!!! A beautiful crocheted winter cushion, 2 decorations to hang on my tree (Duck wasn’t in the box but she’s been in for some indoors sunbathing by the French windows - beautiful day today ), a toy for each of our cats and some tasty looking Dutch (🤔🤣) treats. Thankyou so much I love them all (as do the cats - I fear for the long term survival of the crocheted mice!)

I have an absolutely brilliant easter bunny pincushion - just fantastic and has lots of little bits and pieces in, and a gold bunny who will be coming to work with me tonight and may not make it home again! As you can see Duck and Camilla were as excited to get the parcel open as me

Thank you so much for my box of goodies. It was really fun to open. I was especially pleased with the Thin Blue Line wristband. That was very thoughtful. Coincidentally those are the colours of my nail varnish from a metal night out last night so that looks smart. I think the multi purpose scarf and the fingerless gloves will be well used. I was thinking of getting a pair for when I want to take photos in cold weather so that's brilliant. I will share my chocolate with DD who also loves chocolate. Thanks again.

Got an email this morning to say my CV and cover letter have been forwarded to local practices after I had a phone interview for a graduate programme There's one practice I really like the look of and that I think I'd fit in with the team but trying not to set my heart on that one... I have a phone interview next week with another vets I like and a third place that I haven't heard back from yet.

This made me smile - removing one of the broodies from the nest, to go in The Cage of Shame, and she balanced in my hand by fanning her tail like a beautiful flower. She's a gold pencilled wyandotte bantam

Bizarre wildlife encounter yesterday... I was in my work van driving into Plymouth, approaching a large roundabout with about 6 lanes of traffic approaching traffic lights. People in front of me in my Lane kept leaving the lane for no reason that I could see, but when I got almost to the lights, in the middle of this busy road, was a sparrow hawk plucking a pigeon!! I got to within about 3 feet of it in the van and it just glared at me and then went back to it’s plucking!! I was about to do what everyone else had and go around it, but then I thought...’What if the next person doesn’t care about wildlife and just drives over it?’ So I put my high viz jacket on, turned on my flashing beacon and got out. I very nearly touched the hawk before it finally flew off looking very cross. Then I thought I’d better fling the dead pigeon to the side of the road in case the hawk came back, so I picked it up by the tail and felt it twitch (which was a bit grim), but flung it over the car next to me (hmmm - sorry to that person!) - and then as the pigeon got to the top of the arc - it flew!!!!! I hadn’t looked at it very carefully and actually thought it had no head!!! My face must’ve been a picture because all the people in cars around me were killing themselves laughing 😂

Made another lovey for a pregnant colleague. It’s made of a very soft and snuggly yarn. But which leaves a lot of blue fiber bits all over the place, because it fringes A LOT at the yarn ends.

All I have are the cats, the chickens, and the fish. It's not like I've asked for an aviary, pygmy goats, a puppy, tree frogs, a tortoise, and some mice or anything... *nervous laugh*

Ok so I waited 😇 Now I have a year in my eye as I opened the box! And found this gorgeous dog! And then some scribbles for my face. What a brilliant idea And then some biscotti made from my swappers girls eggs and friends bee's honey. Scrubby has made himself at home. I'm going to plant the card with my grandson and watch the flowers grow. Thank you my Easter bunny what a fabulous craftperson you are. Xx

Had our belated Christmas this last weekend. Military precision getting 6 folk with 6 negative lateral flows. Aunt is 86 but was up for belated do, think like a lot of the oldies shes pigsick of bloody covid, lockdowns, rules, masks anti vaccinator etc etc. Frankly I think we all are. Shes the least worried of us all. Made of strong stuff these old dears. Had a lovely time stuffed ourselves, drank a lot and enjoyed some games of scrabble.

To my dearest Omlet friends, I am writing this as a confession to the crime I have commited this evening. I made my gift and whilst out bought a couple of treats to go with it .....one I have never tried before ....I put it with the gift but then all day kept thinking about it and wondering how good it tasted. Then tonight the crime occured ....I very carefully packaged the gift .....and went to wrap it but the chocolate gift kept falling out, I could hear it crying out "Eat Me.....Eat Me....Eat Me" it was fighting to keep out the box, calling my name, begging me to taste just one.... So I apologize and hope you enjoy the gift but there may be a little extra treat missing.....I cannot lie I don't even feel that guilty as it tasted so good.........

Look @Columbian, you clearly follow a very different view on Covid to most of ours. That’s fine and your choice. But please don’t come here and try and cause a scene. The people in this topic are clearly not your audience, as most of us are vaccinated out of free will and follow our local rules and guidelines. And that is our choice. Please respect that too. I advice you to find a different platform to discuss your views with more likeminded people. Otherwise maybe just keep it to chicken related topics.

Still here but not on forum for some time! All a bit hectic here - renovations have started and I nearly have 3 walls to the new sewing room. Needs a roof though! Kitchen extension under way so hoping for January. Seems we have had family on and off since March and I am definitely nevereverever going to run a B&B! I need a holiday afterwards! I haven't done much at all this year - I have finished my daughter's wedding quilt but it needs binding (her 1st anniversary today!) but will be having the deferred celebration place in a couple of weeks - I need to get my act together. I too haven't been feeling creative this year. Seems a blur of veg (not brilliant but some late successes) and ducks and loads of tea making for builders! Trying to get my act together, but I will miss out this time. Thankies for thinking about me though - I didn't get any notifications! I notice the forum has changed around again. Or maybe my memory is failing - not difficult as I had a head start when I was young! Shame about customs - even if it is a gift? I can understand purchases, but a present shouldn't be charged. Postage is daylight robbery now, worse for overseas. Nice to see some of you still enthusiastic and it will be lovely to see how you get on.

I've started making my own reed diffusers. They're nice and easy if you have the pre-made base mix. I started after I found a really nice 'designer' one in a garden centre the other week which was *amazing* - but cost £28!! So I just started making my own for a third of the price! lol Well, here's the Peckingham Palace update. All built and ready. We re-used some of the panels of the MK1 run to create the enclosure at the front. And a nice big new hen house means that I'll be getting a few more hens too. Planning on collecting them this weekend. 🙈 🙈 🙈 😂

I want to get some dart frogs too... but I think I've been banned from buying anymore pets. Well, there's no frog pics yet - but I have completely re-done their tank to make it much more naturalistic. I made vines and all. And I also made it bioactive (which means it is self-sustaining and I don't have to clean anything save for wiping down the glass). I think it looks pretty good!

I am BEYOND delighted - thank you SOOOOO much to my wonderful secret Santa, you made me cry! Whoever you are you read the brief so carefully and matched up my passions and hobbies in THE most perfect and special way. A truly thoughtful set of gifts that had me in tears; I am welling up just typing this. I have a gorgeous traditional wreath, a beautifully embroidered bag for beachcombing finds and a shoulder bag with the sweetest embroidery of a group of hamsters.......makes me smile every time I look at it! I will post pics later (I can't do the 'putting them on the computer thing!!!)

Update- after a few days of pacing her run watching the chicks (and even synchronising going to bed at 6.30 when they did!)- Alice seemed to have calmed down so she was given a few chances to reunite with them. First few meetings were aggressive towards bullied chick and other mum but this got less and less each time and today she seemed to accept that chick back and be accepted back into their little family with no further signs of aggression. They all went to bed together together. Hurrah! She has been bumped down to second mum though! the kids have named the chicks (10 days old) Merry and Pipin - Lord of the Rings fans! We are guessing that one is a cockerel and one a hen. Here are some photos! They are dad- cream legbar and mum- black copper Maran.

I had an older lady yelling at a youngish lad that a condom on your balls was just as useful as a mask below your nose! That made me laugh! 😂😂

Love my sons. They checked out a supermarket, bought lots of lovely vegetables, found some rice, bought some Corona beer and panic bought these.....

Thank you so much to my secret Easter bunny, I have a lovely knitted bag filled with chocolate treats. There are also 3 sachets of which I believe are bath salts if Google translate is to be trusted It's great that we all take part in the swaps and there is a huge amount of crafty talent between us all, thank you Luvachicken for doing all the organising and thank you ladies for taking part and making it all possible.
