Snowy
Just got home after going to A&E at 9am this morning. And they weren't even busy! Littlest boy (4) hurt his ankle on a bouncy castle slide yesterday, but still couldn't weight bear this morning, hence trip to A&E. Now has a funky blue soft cast plaster in place, chipped a little bit of bone off his malleolus. He'll have to be carried around for a week before he can try weightbearing on it again, and plaster stays on for 4 weeks. Can't believe it - when he was a baby his older brother (age 2 at the time) fractured his tibia and was in plaster for 4 weeks. Here we go again! I'm shattered, not eaten all day. We are now huddled in front of the fire with chocolate spread butties and cup of tea to recover. Not really sad, just dog tired - need a new emoticon I think
Egluntyne
Boys will be boys. Bouncy Castles can be a bit tricky can't they. Hope you all feel better tomorrow.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Chocolate butties and tea sound like such good recuperative therapy. And malleolus is a wonderful word. Sounds much more exciting than a chipped leg or foot! Here's to a less stressful tomorrow for you. Anna x
Looney
Oh dear Snowy! What a long day that you could have done without I'm sure. Hope the choc spread sarnies are doing their magic and your little boy is coping ok with his ankle. P.S. I haven't had a choc spread sarnie for ages.....and now I really fancy one ......but we don't have any choc spread Maybe a choccie biccie and a cuppa will hit the spot? Snowy
Thanks all. Feeling a bit more revived now! DS finished his choccy butties, then polished off a bowl of supernoodles and cheese. Poor little mite was starving! The fun starts now - he's meant to be non weight bearing, but already is trying to get around on it How do you stop a 4 year old walking? Give them their due, the A&E staff were lovely. It only took so long because they wanted to be doubly sure on the X rays so had to get second opinions, then specialist help on the plaster as it is a lightweight one and the plaster technician wasn't confident in putting it on. I feel quite happy that everything was double and triple checked and advice sought when needed, rather than them just going ahead with things they were unsure of. Funnily enough, we actually had quite a good day - it isn't often I get to give him my undivided attention for a whole day - we played kitchens in the waiting room, read stories in X ray and made K-nex (or something) models in the A&E cubicle whilst waiting for the plaster. missuscluck
Oh dear Snowy. I hope he is feeling a bit better now. Hope it heals up soon. It does make life difficult. My son fractured his elbow just before we were due to go to Cornwall for a week. The doc reluctantly let us go as it meant him missing an appointment to get it re checked and x rayed. He promised to be good and behave himself so he said we could go. We were camped next to an adventure playground. Looked up from my book reading to see him sailing past on the zip wire hanging from his good arm. Boys!!

chooklady
Sorry to hear your news, I hope he has a speedy recovery. My youngest daugther managed to break her radius the evening before starting secondary school this year, what a nightmare, I don't know how many hours we have spent at hospital over the last few weeks, it's neverending. She had to have her arm pinned and that has got to come out soon! Ahhhhh. All the best Nicola
theherd123
A bouncy castle was my downfall when i was 11 - jumped in the wrong spot and went over on my ankle - hurt like heck! Your poor little boy and what an exhausting day for you all. The chocolate butties & tea sound like a great way to recover though!

Olly
Mmm, choc spread butties ... just the thing! I'm impressed with your positive approach to what must have been a very long and tedious day. Hope it heals up quickly and that you can bear the strain (whether that's carrying him, or stopping him from walking, I'm not sure!)
