We've still got about 4 inches of snow in the garden. There's about 2 inches of ice on the paths and roads still. YS school opened today. Can't tell you how grumpy he was to have to go back to school

I think its rain later so will be interesting to see if it gets rid of the snow.

Just tried to clear the drive with the aid of ES but can feel my shoulder aching already.

We have got really scarily slippery ice everywhere today.

It thawed quite a bit yesterday then we had a light dusting of snow at 6.30 last night and some at about midnight then another covering at about 6am this morning and each layer has then frozen on top of the previous one, It looks like partially melted snow but is solid glass like ice. The roads round here were chaos this morning and walking YD to school was interesting

The sun is out at the moment but we are in for a load more snow overnight, so it looks like YD's trip to Bristol Zoo will be off tomorrow, she is not happy.

Our snow has melted quite a lot now and the snowman looks like it's drunk! (It's all lopsided!). The hens are happier though and out and about which is good. This morning all the snow which we had became iced over and it was a bit of a death trap walking in this morning. Hoping for more snow this evening too!

Today at school, the field was a battleground.

Snow flying everywhere. Teachers unable to stop it.

Injurys:

Broken Arm

Black eye

Cut lip.

It was fun though!

We had 'ice balls' instead of the usual snow balls! I got one one right in the mouth and i couldn't play my bassoon at the school orchestra at lunchtime! Luckily we had no injurys because of Ofsted! Wouldn't say it was much fun though - i hate the snow/ice! :?

We are supposed to get blizzards tonight so i'm hoping that i get a snow day tomorrow! :D

Our road is still an ice rink as it faces east/west and so doesn't get any sun at all. My mobility scooter is handling it all quite well though, and i even managed to do a bit of deliberate skidding today. We are forecast more snow overnight, OH reckons he's going to work in Reading tomorrow but i don't fancy his chances.

Lovely photos - at Spencer!

Anyone out there near Luton????

My son and girlfriend are due to fly from Luton on Friday morning - her mother is very poorly - we are supposed to take them to Coventry coach station for 3am to get the coach to Luton. The airport site says it still has delays.......just wondering if Luton was in line for more snow like the Midlands. The Midlands news was talking of about 2" - 4" so maybe it will all be OK.

I think I'd better start a new thread.....

Lovely pic of Spencer

All the snow we had yesterday has frozen solid into an inch thick sheet of ice :? The main road through the village is clear, but nothing has been gritted, so all the side roads are treacherous. It's still below freezing and although it's been sunny today, we are forecast heavy snow tomorrow and light snow on Friday! My brother rang from Canada to gloat (they only have 6' of snow and temp of -28) Our school was open again today and at least everything is running normally again.

We spent yesterday sledging - brilliant fun! Most of the children there had never experienced sledging before! 8)
