We're expecting.........another Newsflash!!

Recommended Posts

We've made it!!

Tali and Jazz are sharing the sleeping area!!

Two nights ago we removed the divider and put two beds in there...........

You can see where it had been divided lengthways.....

All was well overnight and the following morning when they went in after their long, wet, walk so we left it as it was.

Tali played up a bit after lunch yesterday when they'd gone back in to dry off again and had her bed up on end so I took her bed out. Next time I looked Tali was in Jazz's bed and Jazz was on all the padded bed bits on the floor so I decided to take both beds out and threw in all the bed pads and blankets - they loved it! :D

(and I later worked out why Tali had been playing up - I'd forgotten to give her her lunch  - bad Mummy  )

We heard Tali wake up this morning and start ferretting around but she left Jazz alone :D

Tali was due to start training this week but there was a burst pipe at the hall so it won't start until February now. I spoke to the trainer and we're rapidly losing the window for Tali to socialise with other dogs. With this weather we have even less time to try and meet other dogs as we have to carry all the water for animals etc. and their walks are all part of the animal feed and water routine so I phoned someone we met at the Puppy Party and asked if we could visit her a few times with Tali ( ) - she has LouLou the 4 month old golden Retriever puppy, a six month old JRT and an older JRT. We're popping round this morning - snow allowing - to see how it goes. We may take Jazz as well as she missed out on socialisation,

Gosh, Tali looks so grown up there :D

Glad to hear that they are getting on better now; you'll find them curled up together one day!

I'll probably be bringing Ruby to the market on Saturday unless the roads are blocked, Moochoo will probably be there with the dogs too, so bring them along for a runabout afterwards in the fields.

We had a good time - Tali is such a different dog with others, tail between her legs and ears back......you'd never know that she terrorised Jazz and plays wih her all the time

The JRT has some chihuahua and was a tiny thing - it took Tali about 15 minutes to come out of her shell. We'll keep meeting a couple of times a week and also take Jazz as well - it will do them all good. LouLou the retriever is such a friendly soul - big and lollopy :D

Thats a shame about the training classes. I took Lola to the first class since Christmas last night. We are now in a class to do the bronze citizenship award.

Lola sounds similar to Tali in that when she was at home she was really outgoing etc whereas when she was in an unusual situation or if lots of dogs were saying hello all at the same time she looked really scared. She is much better now. She is still nervous of some people when they come and say hello but is fine just walking around town. We take her on walks where there are lots of dogs and people. When we were in the forest once we started to walk with a dog walker who had 6/7 big dogs with her so we walked for an hour with her. Lola really seemed to benefit from this. We now see the same lady quite often and Lola is much more outgoing and less scared. Her way of greeting dogs is to run near them and then when she gets close she just lies on the floor and waits for them to see her. Once they have said hello she seems fine. It's a really good idea to take Tali and Jazz to see the other dogs. Any socialisaion is better than none!

Thanks Sarah :D

We took both dogs to play with the other puppies today - they weren't sure at first but it didn't take them long to start playing.

Tali went to the Vets for her rabies vaccination this afternoon and Jazz came in to be weighed - they both met other dogs in there and were fine.

We continued visiting the other puppies in the next village and also met up with Clare's Ruby and Moochoo's Jenson and Willow last week. Not as good as walking with other dogs every day but it worked for both Jazz and Tali so it proved very useful.

Tali started training classes on Tuesday in a group of 5 - one of them being LouLou who she has been meeting. Tali and LouLou were the stars of the show and we were so relieved. Tali dragged me along to the hall, bounded up the steps and then had a wobbly moment and stopped short just as I'd managed to catch her up - I made a pretty spectacular entrance to the class :lol:

Tali is such a different dog to Jazz - very typical Lab......so, she's much easier to train. Jazz is becoming easier to handle as well as she likes to show Tali that she (Jazz) is more intelligent :D Jazz could be a stubborn little madam - we knew she could do something....and knew that she knew what we meant.....but she'd do things when it suited her.......she's more amenable now. I think it's partly because Carl has started to treat her more like a dog

......and......the one I began to doubt we'd ever see.........

This was taken over the top edge of their sleeping area under the stairs....Tali is still just a bit smaller than Jazz but looks bigger in the photo.

Aaaw they are a gorgeous pair Lesley :D , give them a snuggle from me, and well done on persevering with the training

I know what you mean about Jazz being very intelligent but not necessarily complying.....Jess is just the same..........if she decides she doesn't want to do something she stands & looks at me as if to say "why?"..............so I say "NOW!" & she does it.....err what is that all about :wall: !! Mind you DH asks her to do things.....I tell her....perhaps that's our problem

Yes Sha - same problem here......I keep muttering "she's a dog" a lot of the time

Jazz has an extra kilo to shift now as well - she thought she should have a treat every time she sat as well as Tali

We've added a few bits of agility stuff to Jazz's outdoor stuff - we've had to keep it low to the ground as Tali thinks it's hers  Now the weather is a bit better we'll have to do separate training so that Jazz gets back to her usual amount of hard work. We couldn't let Tali do the amount of running and jumping that Jazz did so through all the vile weather Jazz has had to do the same as Tali.

What a lovely photo lesley.

They can come playing with Ruby and her friends any time. :D

Thanks :D - we're hoping to make it further than the dog poo field next time!

(I think I'm going to write to the local paper about the state of that field - too many people too lazy to pick up after their dogs  An enclosed field was part of the landscaping plans for the new estate and there is a poo bin for goodness sake  Sorry.......I'll get off my soapbox now!)

Tali's rabies vaccination was successful and we went to collect her Pet Passport today - she can leave the country but can't come back in yet  - 6 months from the date of the blood test and she'll be allowed back in as well. We're going to France in September.

Her passport cost more than Carl's and mine, together, will cost to renew  I must get mine done after managing to get to Portsmouth with an out of date one last June

Jazz has lost a bit of the weight she has put on. We're training/exercising them separately at times now.
