Looking up from the laptop the top of ben rinnes is still white under a layer of cloud - looks like there has been some more - the temp was way down at under 2 degrees last night.

Sounds like we need to batten the hatches this week later on as snow is forecast - loads of food in freezer, bread etc all in and ready for battle - we have a generator in the garage for emergencies and a calor gas portable heater too and plenty candles and wind up torches!.. Let is snow......... for a week and then stop till next November/Dec.

I have been out getting the Cube ready for winter, a good clean out and with the aid of bungees, zip ties and 3 cheap shower curtains, the top of the run has been covered along with the bottom half of the sides ( we had snow drifting into the run last year and the aptly named Snowy refused to come out of the Cube in case her little feathery legs got any where near a snow flake  )

we had snow drifts into our run... will have to look and see what we can do to put up when snow is due.

If it's any help. I used a £3 Wilkinsons shower curtain, cut it into 3 then zip tied it ( had to make a few small holes in it) round the run, making 2 foot high windbreak/snow guard. In fact the curtain went almost all the way round just leaving the door uncovered.

I put two shower curtains over the top, one on top of the other as they were old and had holes in.

This will be my first winter with the Cube. The run is already protected top and both sides with a tarp and is quite rainproof :D I shut the pop hole more to keep Flash's cockadoodledoos quiet than anything else.

Here's a winter reminder of last year

oohh, such lovely pictures I am beginning to get envious of you people who might get snow this week!

last time we had it here I was at home with my broken leg, lying on a bed in the kitchen. it was just so lovely to watch the snow coming down and how the garden was transformed, and knowing that the girls and DH were all home for a long w/e and no one could go anywhere. a friend came round with his sledge and the girls went off with him to the shop - came back with lots of wine on the sledge, and then friend's wife and kids came round and we had a very long and very liquid lunch!
