Snow

Recommended Posts

When I opened the hen houses doors this morning at 7.30am it was -8.3 according to my weather station. the girls were out in the garden this afternoon and I have just been out to put them away and sweep up and all of their poo is frozen to the path, it looks fresh but it is frozen solid  -3.7 outside at the moment.

Keep warm and safe everyone.

Very cold! I was all wrapped up in scarf, gloves, jumper, coat etc and was still freezing! The predicted minimum is -6°C tonight. Meant to be having sunny intervals tomorrow.

Hope everyone is safe and warm. :)

We had a light dusting yesterday, just enough to make the pavements lethal. It was -5 at 7.30 this morning when I left work.............took two of us ( I gave a colleague a lift) 5 minutes to s"Ooops, word censored!"e and spray enough de- icer to make the car driveable.................not looking foraward to having to de-ice the car on my own in the morning, it's already freezing outside.

Had about 3inches of snow this afternoon, just been out to collect water /food bowls and shut the door .The sky looks full of even more snow. The girls wouldnt come out the run this afternoon (to be honest I don't blame them) just hope they arn't too cold tonight.

There's a dusting of snow here too. It's clear on the roads, but the pavements are icy and slippy and the snow is just freezing - it's very, very cold and, according to metcheck, not forecast to get any warmer.

The girls have refused to come out of their run for two days now and have been looking thoroughly fed up and miserable. I have even been out and bought some hay to make a thicker layer of bedding in the nest box (where they all sleep) in an attempt to keep them warmer at night. Why oh why do they have to moult at this time of year as well?

I'm going to rant here for a minute!!!!

My DH is out on the fells in minus 10 (plus windchill) looking for an attempted suicide.

The helicopter can't get in so it's up to mountain rescue to get to him. I feel sorry for the guy but I am so angry at the danger he is putting his rescuers to.

I feel for the rescuers in that weather - hope he gets home safely and soon!.

Just very very cold in Abingdon. No snow although the sky looks heavy with it. It hasn't risen above -1 all day so have had to go out to break ice on chooks water several time today. Also found one of my ex-bats collapsed in the eglu run. She's not looked good for a few days but seemed to be eating and drinking OK so put it down to the weather. She's now inside, at least warm and peaceful. If she's no better tomorrow, it'll be off to the vets. I'm just pleased I found her in daylight - she'd certainly have frozen to death otherwise.

OSH, I hope your OH is now back safe - and the would be suicide safe also.

I hope he's ok and home safe and sound very soon OSH. good on him for doing what he does.

having said there would be "no snow this close to the sea" well there was and very pretty too. most has thawed today though, but it's freezing again now so ice on the roads in the morning I guess. take care everyone.

Some great pictures of snow being posted on here, my favourite though is the woodburner and the Cat :) I can't bring myself to take any photos of the white stuff as I really hate it.

Managed to walk yesterday morning with DS who got an extra shift at work. Such a beautiful walk in the moonlight and we didn't need to use torches as the moon lit the way. Saw many animal paw prints in the snow, Deer and Rabbit, also an enormous paw print which looked like it was from Cat like creature :anxious: which was a bit un nerving. Got a lift most of the way home in the afternoon, the car was slipping all over the road and I did wonder if we should have walked.

More snow overnight and it is snowing at the moment so I will be walking to work again today.

DD's School is closed so she is very happy. No such luck for me as the School I work at is a boarding School so there are over 400 students needing to be fed 3 times a day.

OSH I hope your OH is now safely home.
