The Dogmother
Love that beach Cathy - want to take a hooond for a walk on that? Laughing at Omletina's story reminded me of the thick snow in February; my friend Jude lives on a windy main road in a rural area between two villages, the field opposite the entrance to her yard runs straight off the road down a very steep bank. A few cars (going too fast ) went hurtling off into the field - the farmer got well and truly fed up and 'lifted' them out with the bale-lift on his tractor.. I understand that he wasn't too careful by the 3rd car!
Blackrocksrock
OSH and Cathy - wonderful pictures - would be kind of cold at the beach today then! Had to laugh at Henry from London - did he have some marbles in his mouth by any chance! = hope that the farmer charges him loads!
Charlottechicken
The sprinkling we had has now gone, even though it was snowing all day. I cannot believe the snow that some of you have, especially as some of you aren't that far away! Do you have 'snow envy' Christian? Be careful what you wish for.... Valkyrie
We've still got some left Christian. It looked deeper in Odiham - not by much though. There is a patch of snow on the road on the hill at the back of the house. It's always bad there and quite often when there is black ice we can hear cars slewing and thudding into the roundabout. Or they'll rev their engines and do exactly the same thing and all you hear is tyres squealing and spinning while going nowhere fast. Last time when we were snowed in a car was going sideways down there. Our neighbour was in the car behind and opted to pull off the road after he saw the loss of control. He then helped the other driver to push it out of the way. There were lots of stranded cars - main reason being "Ooops, word censored!"ody could get up the hills to their houses. Our reccie this evening found it to be quite snowy there whilst the rest of the road is clear. Looking for safer routes for DD when she comes home from work later tonight (hopefully soon) - and to get our Chinese takeaway.
Egluntyne
Chaos in Sheffield. Massive snowfall overnight - continuous for over 12 hours. Roads blocked with jack-knifed lorries and abandoned cars etc. Most schools shut. Worst I've known it in the 25 plus years I have lived here. Charlottechicken
Oh crikey! Take care up there, Egluntyne! No snow here, just lots of black ice, according to the radio. Saw something on the news about people stranded on a train in Kent? Sounded bad.
Patricia W
Can't believe this! We have nothing- all the snow from yesterday has blown away and all we are left with is the bitter cold. Abingdon was one of the worst hit places in the country last time, but we seem to be escaping now. All around us though we hear of chaos. Luckily I can work from home today. I'll be thinking of all of you not so lucky. Stay safe. Tricia
Ain't Nobody Here
Hope you can stay home, warm and safe, Egluntyne . We've had another couple of inches (I reckon about 14" by now ). YS's school is open, mine is shut to pupils but we've to hang on till 10 to see if we have to go in (and help shovel snow ). It's the worst snow I've ever seen in Edinburgh . Christian
Stay safe Egluntyne No snow here in Hampshire/Wiltshire Borders. Weird how some places miss everything! Cold though. -2 again this morning and a cold wind. Heavy snow forecast for today and tomorrow, so looks like I will have to stay in and dust/hoover the house. No excuses
Cinnamon
I feel really short changed by it all. Only had the merest dusting here - schools open,no excuses for not going to work.....
Seagazer
We measured the snow on the table and walls today and we have 9 inches. It just did not stop snowing yesterday, all the schools closed early and YS's school is closed today. He's a happy boy.
Reikiranf
It snowed here for most of yesterday and most of the night, DH said the snow was about 9 inches deep when he went out to sweep the snow off of the car this morning! DS's school is closed today, much to his delight

Charlottechicken
Spoke too soon, it's snowing in Birmingham and the temperature is still well below freezing! It's just an icing sugar dusting at the moment though. We also have a lovely strong swirly north wind to go with it too, brrrrr!

Happy chickens!
Brrrr stay safe Egluntyne and everyone else in the snow. Just a sprinkling here, but minor roads treacherous. Considering Cheshire has it's very own salt mine, precious little evidence of gritting.
Plum
Deeper in Belper than I've seen it in the 27years I've lived here. Not at work today but hats off to my team still delivering a service to vulnerable people in their homes. They go to such lengths to ensure our patients are safe, watered and fed. Seagazer
I'm just praying for a huge thaw as OH and I are due to go to the bike show at the NEC on friday with a lovely overnight stay in Stratford-upon-Avon - not sure that will be happening now and no we weren't going on the motorbike
C&T
I'm with Christian - chronic Snow Envy at the moment! All I hear in the news is how bad everywhere is, inc the M25 at "our" junction - but we have about 2mm of snow! Just enough to make it icy on the pavements... I appreciate though it is not fun for those of you with it where it is so bad - so hope everyone keeps safe and warm. I've seen no snowman pic's on here yet though? Is no-one playing...??!
