Snow

Recommended Posts

We had about five inches of the stuff overnight, which is almost unheard of in sunny Bognor Regis, right next to the sea..ds' school closed. and a message from the office not to bother going in today....hunkering down for a day at home, , no excuse not to catch up on all those little cleaning jobs I've been putting off...except of course I'm sitting here browsing the forum :D

Apparently there is a foot of snow at Bexhill which is also unheard of. I so want to see pictures of snow on beaches!

However, we now have a foot of snow on the bins next to the house, about 6 inches on the hives at the end of the garden. I've had to sweep a foot off the eglu run. I had to shovel a path from the cube so they could get out and OH caused a mini avalanche brushing past a bush. Its even worse than February when we also had deep snow. Its that lovely powdery stuff. We walked into town yesterday to get milk and fresh goods as we didn't want to risk the car. I'm very glad we did as we'd have no chance today.

It made me laugh when I woke up - on the radio somebody said their dog couldn't go out because its legs were too short, and somebody else said their dog bounded outside only to disappear up to its tail!

There is no way I'd be travelling on those roads tomorrow. Its forecast to be very cold indeeeeeeed tonight and so will remain dangerous on Fri. However, Sat is supposed to be much milder/no snow. It partly depends what time you'd be travelling, if you were on the road round midday, then maybe OK, given Gatwick is shut till tomorrow 6.00am and thats going to be on your way more or less - although I bet a huge amount of money it won't be open then. Personally, unless you really want this meeting I'd err on the side of caution and cancel - north Surrey/Sussex/Kent are/have been/will be badly effected (the trains have been stopped) and its not marvellous in the south of Sussex and Kent either! I can't get onto Metcheck to check the local forecast for you - maybe you could try later in the day?

No snow overnight, but it's now snowing like mad in Banbury.

Phil stayed over last night - he'd slid all the way down their lane in Radnage to get to the hub and didn't think he'd be able to get back up to the farm again. He's driving again today, but they are only going to drops a max of 3 hours away to stay out of the snow zone.

We had about 3 inches last night. It looks lovely out there. One child is in school usual time. She's very :( The other two are just off now to get there for 10.30. The chickens aren't coming out today. I went and checked they were okay and they were just huddled up together in their nest box, moaning away.

I've got a meeting in Horsham on Saturday - do those of you down there think I should cancel? I'd be coming from Abingdon so M25 and M23

My ES did M25, M23 and back on M25 yesterday, he made quick progress and had no problems on m'ways.

My ED did M25 & M4 this morning and said the m'way was clear, this was b'twn 7am & 8am.

I think the trouble is when you leave the motorway.

We're supposed to be driving to Heidelburg on Monday morning, not sure if that's going to happen now :(
