Its been snowing for about an hour now and its settling. I told OH not to go to work on his motorbike today

its here too now - just went to pick up the daughter from school as the coach didn't turn up (again), & the roads are a white-out

Its funny stuff though - not big fat fluffy flakes,but little hard bits & lots of it.

REALLY anxious as middle child is driving up to collect his younger brother from Lancaster today...He's an excellent driver (I feel safe enough to nod off with him driving my car on long trips - which doesn't happen much with other drivers I can tell you, least of all his dad) but at 21 has only limited experience...The forecast earlier was no snow in Lancashire and though it's bitterly cold here there's nothing much on the ground but - I'm struggling to stay calm and focussed on a busy day in the parishes. Just want all my kids home soooooooooon

It stopped here at about mid-day, we have about an inch of snow, main roads are fine but the side roads are treacherous. Lovely and sunny now

We're supposed to be going to a country pub for a meal tonight, don't think we'll even attempt it.

Starting to cloud over again here, just around freezing and there's still snow on the ground.

We had an absolute blizzard here at about 9.30am. Massive flakes and it settled everywhere. My friend had just arrived from just over the border in Worcestershire, where they had nothing, and was quite shocked. We thought she was going to have to turn around and head straight home but it suddenly stopped half an hour later. While we were out shopping it kept trying to snow, little balls of snow. Still no more here now but what fell this morning has stayed. All main roads are clear but side roads and pavements in places are treacherous.

 

Lots of birds in the garden too, I've just had a crow, a wood pigeon and several blackbirds sharing the lawn, I've been out and scattered mealworms for them, so the hens are glaring at me

 

It's absolutely beautiful here though, sun is out and the sky is blue

We've had a dump of snow in NW London. Went to let girls out for a FR and they looked at me and said "you cannot be serious" so I left them in the run. Did their best John McEnroe impressions they did

Back home now and it is below freezing. Neighbours said it has been all day, but they deiced the hens' water for me.

 

Heavy snow forecast for tonight, so have packed enough for a night away, just in case I get to Edinburgh and don't get back (after a coffee with ANH ).

Only a light dusting here - but its that very icy snow. Very cold and we have had a couple of dark sky moments with big flurries. I guess this is the pattern for the next few days, so keep warm and safe everybody. On the plus side, we're having bangers and baked potatoes for tea tonight

we have lots of snow here in west wales all schools colleges are closed there are no buses or trains and there is lots more forecasted. the chooks are not impressed they have sat on top of the houses allday

Snow fell rapidly in central London today - I was in a meeting from 11-12, and halfway through someone noticed it snowing, and by the time we left the meeting the ground outside was covered. Snow in the City is a rare sight, I was looking at The Gherkin through a cloud of snowflakes. We went out for our team lunch, and by the time I came home at about 4.30 the pavements were mostly clear but I could see them glittering with ice.

Olly, I can just imagine what you saw, I love seeing a snowy cityscape. The building where I work is quite long, and high up too, and winds around it mean that when it snows, it snows UP at the front of the building Always interesting to tell new staff, they don't believe it until they see it
