jill the potter
I'm sure I'm not on my own, but don't you feel great when you've managed to get outside and spend some time with the girls and give them a thorough clean out. Even though it was really cold (water frozen in hosepipe!!) I had a lovely afternoon and felt really virtuous afterwards. Can't say the girls were grateful and soon made a mess by flicking out most of the new compost I put in their dust baths!!! so I thought I would take a photo before they completely messed up!! Redwing
gosh that looks immaculate I can safely say that my pens look nothing like that I've a queue of chickens at the back door asking if they can come and live with you
Purplemaniacs
Wow that looks lovely. You have a very interesting WIR lots of things for the chooks to use. I think you deserve to have a nice feeling after making the WIR look like that. Chrissie
jill the potter
I wouldn't dare put a 'before' photo on I'll give them 2 days before it's a mess!!!
Plum
Smashing, so fresh and the girls look so clean and well too. Like the chair in the run I got an old bench in mine to chook chat on.

Burtie14
Chickens simply do not appreciate the value of a nice tidy house. Any attempt to reason my lot falls on deaf ears - the moment the run is clean, they can't wait to 'Christen it' in their own special way... blooming chickens. craftyhunnypie
My chooks have asked ' how much is it for bed & breakfast? ' Beautiful! Hubby's girls have an old bike sunk into the ground for them to perch on - they love it! Plus lots of tree branches. If I had a run like that, I'd be tempted to sleep in it with the chickens! After this do you take them out on a wheeled one I've got visions of you on a tandem accompanied by various feathered friends on the crossbars and handlebars
Chortle Chook
What a lovely arrangement for your hens! I'm delighted that there is someone else out there who enjoys cleaning their hens out on a weekend. My OH thinks I am quite barking when I say it is fun. I talk away to my chooks as I do it and they come along and inspect progress at regular intervals. The best bit is re-arranging their perches, dishes, toys etc. It reminds me of when I was little and had a dolls' house
percy049
when ever i clean the house out, i always shut them in/out of the WIR (depending if we've moved the house or not), because im always worried they'll drink the water with the disinfectant in - you know what theyre like! Patch You should have seen Margot - the light sussex - getting out of the dustbath yesterday, she could hardly walk her feathers were so caked in soil, and she was a lovely charcoal colour As I said before I wouldn't dream of posting a pic of them before they were cleaned out!!! Maybe we could have a gallery.........best and worst, but I'm not posting my worst first!!!
gongladosh
It's amazing how you can clean the run out, turn your back, and with ten seconds there'll be a big splatty poo on the floor.
Old Speckled Hen
Wonderfully clean. I'm lost in admiration My cube run NEVER looks like that and my lot free range all day. Flash the cockerel's night time cage under the stairs in the basement looks clean though as I do it every day. Mmmmmmmm perhaps I should rename him Harry
Gelbel
I love the look on their little faces and the little "Ooohhh, look at this" clucks when you get them back in and they see all the nice clean floor covering and clean, full up water and feed vessels and perches/play things in different places. Then they develop an evil look on their faces and kick the new flooring all over the place, including up and over the kickboard, and proceed to mess the whole place up and poop not deposited during the FR while you're cleaning soon gets remembered and released. Wouldn't have it any other way.
Chortle Chook
Yes that nice, saintly feeling of having made ones chooks all clean and tidy soon goes to grr when the little dears kick and scratch all their nice clean aubiose all over the outside and mix it up with the gravel and mud in the garden > Last weekend mine did this even before I had managed to shut their hen house door
