Did you know that if you are a full time student (as I have been this year), you don't have to pay council tax? I only found this out recently & have nearly a years worth winging its way back to me! :D:D:D

I had that last year. It was an unexpected and welcome bonus. Though my university told us about it right at the start of the course. The council were quick in sorting it out too.

Had a great day yesterday going around Oxford looking at loads of the colleges with ED, some of them are stunning with fantastic gardens. You walk through the gate houses and are transported to a world of peace and tranquility right in the middle of the city centre :D

Just hope that she gets in now.

Edited to say, where did that year go Purple Tree :shock: Happy birthday little tree :D

I used to work in Oxford centre, right opposite Christchurch. I'd go into the gardens at lunchtime and walk down to the river. The gardens at Worcester are the absolute best. 8)

Oxford is just a short bus ride from us Liz, so if ED ever wants a few home comforts, she only has to call and pop up.

You are right the garden at Worcester college were spectacular and so expansive, a real hidden gem in the city centre. This is her college of choice, but it is also the most popular so we shall see. She also liked St Johns for it's friendly feel.

Was going to say I hoped you went to Worcester College, I was a gardener there for three years before leaving in 2010. Loved working there, I set up a gardeners blog which is still running: http://www.wocogaga.blogspot.com

Thanks for the link, I saw a reference to this but had forgotten the details :D

What a beautiful place to work, my dad was a head gardener for a minor Welsh aristocrat for most of his working life and I really should have followed in his footsteps, I am never happier than when out in the garden. I worked with him as a tennager and hated it of course, didn't appreciate what I had. Ended up as a pharmacy dispenser pre-children and then as my OH's credit controller come part time receptionist. :roll:

Is rich thanks to Scarlettohara :dance: She asked me on Facebook for a tip at Newmarket, I looked at the next two races, picked out two and for the fun of it backed them both in an each way double. They only went and won! :dance: I'm chuffed to bits and thrilled for Hayley Turner who won her first Group 1 race :D

I've had a great day :D

Took my 3 year old to Sedgwick Museum of Geology in Cambridge today. Never been before but thought that he would like the dinosaur skeletons. It was good, he pretended to be a dinosaur half way around the museum! :roll::lol: Good thing to do to keep him occupied for an hour (and free entry too) :D

I beat the boys at milling today, it was a fair fight. I won because a) they can't hit a woman and b) they can't hit their mum. Excellent rules.

:lol::lol:

spent 2 hours in A&E again today (after 2 hours last night) with youngest and 'highly likely' fractured wrist. they x-rayed today; still inconclusive but they think more than likely a greenstick fracture. so we go back to fracture clinic on July 21 for a verdict. meanwhile the plaster and sling stays on - so no dance shows, which means she's out of the 4 performances the week after next, and they will have to rearrange the choreography they've all spent months learning :(

just really hoping that come July 21 they will say its all been a big mistake, plaster comes off and she can swim all summer hols... but I think they are probably right that it is fractured.

If it is inconclusive the fracture surely can't be too bad. My son fractured his wrist and did his tae kwon do pre black belt test including sparring with a cast on - just had to be a little careful not to whack his opponent with it :lol: It is going to be a greenstick if anything so the fracture wont really displace, the bone has just bent and returned to position causing pain. It will heal really quickly and pain tends to be short lived. You can get waterproof cast covers for swimming :wink:
