Been offered job in Wrexham - UPDATE we've moved!

Recommended Posts

We have all moved and I've started my new job

The girlies were far from happy at having to sleep in the (pink eglu) for a couple of nights while the move happened and there was much whingeing at bedtime, "That's not my bed", "I'm not going in there" etc until it was very dark. They were egg-static when their own (cube green) and (cube red) re-appeared in their new garden and kept running up and down the ladders making happy noises :D. They have now thoroughly explored their new garden and seem quite content, providing a couple of eggs a day again.

The cats were very unhappy at being put in a cattery for five days and Puddy apparently sulked continually :notalk:. Having said that, she's settled quickest into her new home and the only one that's still uncertain is Loki, who's usually a very laid-back boy but seems to have been thrown by all the upheaval. Puddy had a good wander round the garden yesterday and Loki had a brief look before I brought him back in (too soon for adventuring), but Cleo and Tozi don't even want to look yet.

Everyone at work seems very friendly and I was able to find my way to my office today without any detours :D. I can't yet put names to faces, but at least I can recognise some of the faces. As they are my staff, names will have to be learned quickly.

The only slight niggle is that, because everything happened so quickly, I paid the removers to do the packing and what is written on the boxes bears no relation to what is actually inside. For instance, I hunted high and low for my bedding the first night only to eventually find it in a box marked "dining room, china and glass" - I didn't even have a dining room  ! The plan of leaving things like all the dinner service packed till I moved to a permanent home is out of the window, as I'll have to at least open every box to see what's really in it. At a rough guess, there's between 30-40 boxes to be opened so, if I do one a night, I'll be done by Christmas! I know it's not a catastrophe and, as everything was taken out of the old house, everything I can't find must be there somewhere, it's just irritating. So far the only casualty was a ceramic cat bowl that had just been chucked in a box and not wrapped, and I guess something always get broken somehow.

My dad came on moving day and last Saturday, and he's still really happy, both that I've got a job so soon and that I'm so much closer to him - about 1 hour and 5 mins away. Having him there to assist with building hanging rails, connecting the washing machine and sorting out boxes has been a real help.

All in all, it's been a positive start and I definitely won't be bored for a while :D!
