Been offered job in Wrexham - UPDATE we've moved!

Yippee! Got a job offer for a job in Wrexham  !

I've been redundant for just two weeks, so getting a job offer so quickly is wonderful. No start date yet, as still subject to references and medical, but there should be no issues re either of them and they want me asap. It's just over an hour away from my Dad in Manchester and he's been a bit lonely since my Mum died last year, so he hasn't stopped smiling since I told him. It's his birthday today and he reckoned he was going to have an extra large whisky to celebrate twice :D

Once I'm down from cloud 9, I need to really get going on making this house ready to sell - lots of cleaning and a bit of decorating - and find somewhere to live in or near Wrexham. If any Omleteers in that part of the world know of anywhere to rent where I can have my cats 'n' chooks, please get in touch. Anything considered, as it only needs to be a roof over my human and their furry and feathery heads until I can sell here and buy there.

It doesn't pay as much as my last job, but it's still good money and I'm sure there will be opportunities to climb back up the slippery pole if I really want to At this point I'm just really grateful to have a job at all :D

Good news - don't you just love it (and love having people to share it with) !

There are some lovely village away from Wrexham, Erddig house NT is beautiful and Chester is close. My mum grew up in Wrexham and I visited my Nain and Tiad (welsh for Gran and Grandad) there as a child, it is a bit grim, but the place has changed since the 70/80's. Well done on the job

I'm really struggling to find property to rent with cats and hens. I'm not after anything spectacular, just somewhere to live till I can sell my house here and buy there, but most agents immediately say no when they hear the word pets

If anyone knows of anything in that area (driving distance of Wrexham), please let me know  . I love my furry and feathery friends far too much to be parted from them  and being able to have them with me is far more important than what sort of place I live in or its location.

You'll have better luck trying to find a private landlord. Letting agents will stick by the standard terms and conditions of an Assured Shorthold Contract because it's easier for them. I let out a house and know that it's challengeable in law not to seriously consider having someone with pets- it would be unreasonable to simply hide behind that standard term in a contract. I have had people with animals and simply ask them to pay a larger deposit and agree to have the carpets steam cleaned when they leave and to pay for any damage that the pets cause. No problems so far.

I never use a letting agent after a very bad experience with one firm the first year. I advertise on Gumtree and similar when I need new tenants and do my own credit checks etc.

Shame you're not near me! I'd be reasonable.

congratulations dancing cloud. I moved from Rochdale to oswestry (got a job in wrexham) over 4 years ago. I now live in llanymynech (6 miles(ish) from oswestry) and now work in shrewsbury.

As i am fairly local if you need anything let me know, even if you need a temp home for your chooks for a few weeks or what ever, i am more than happy to help :D .

You will love it. Its the best move i made to this part of the world.

Many thanks Samniboo and I may well be in touch - or we could arrange to meet up and talk chicken :D

I'm delighted to tell you I went up to Wrexham at the end of last week and I've found and rented a house that will let me have all my chooks n cats  About two miles from work, on the edge of an established housing estate and not near any main roads. The garden is secure, except the back fence and I've plenty of omlet netting to sort that out, and the house is nothing special, though entirely adequate for a few months while I sell here and find somewhere to buy there. The agents have to do credit checks and I have to talk to removers, and I'm hoping to move up and start work there in two/three weeks. I'm so excited and really happy to be able to keep my furry and feathery family together with me

I've just driven back from Manchester and I'm giving myself the rest of the day to to enjoy the happiness before I let reality set in tomorrow. There's just so much to do and likely to be very little time ... :D
