WitchHazel
I'm rather liking Mr Bonneville too, he's really rather scrummy, isn't he For me, it's a combination of him, his character, and the costumes.

snowberry
Wouldnt mind if it was Mrs HB - she annoys me intensely. When I first watched the series, I thought she was played by Andi Mcdowell

Ain't Nobody Here
I rather like HB too . Although, I thought it was totally out of character, kissing the maid . When he was talking to her downstairs I said to OH "please tell me he's not going to ....... " just when he lunged in . Can't wait for Thomas to get his comeuppance . Is no-one ever going to find out that he got his hand shot deliberately? I totally missed the end of the imposter story too .
Chickendoodle
Can't wait for Thomas to get his comeuppance . Is no-one ever going to find out that he got his hand shot deliberately? I think his comeuppance was losing all his money buying the doctored black market goods. Why on earth did HB suddenly lunge in on the maid? There wasn't much of a spark between them. Perhaps she can sue him for sexual harrassment in the workplace I also missed the point of the imposter story - I heard the letter being read out but the meaning was lost on me. A bit of sloppy writing there I think as so many of us missed it.
Ain't Nobody Here
I think his comeuppance was losing all his money buying the doctored black market goods. I suppose you're right! I can't help thinking he'll land on his feet though - he always does .

When he was talking to her downstairs I said to OH "please tell me he's not going to ....... " just when he lunged in . Yes that was rather unbelievable, you would have thought he would had the will to resist. She wasn't even showing a bit of ankle, which would have turned any man's head
clucker1
I agree! Totally out of character!! I missed the bit about Thomas getting his hand shot deliberately. What was all of that about?
Ain't Nobody Here
When he was in the trenches he deliberately stuck his hand up so it would get shot at. (I don't think I imagined it .)

Cinnamon
No, he was shot at - he held a lit lighter in his had in the trenches,in the dark, & held his had up over the top of the trench.
Chickendoodle
Yes you're right! Thinking about it if he had shot his own hand there wouldn't be much of it left to wear under the glove

LolaLayla
Wonder if there will be a 'Downton effect' in Health Centres next week following this coming Sunday's episode dealing with the flu Flu jabs everyone...........
surfer_chicken
I also missed the point of the imposter story - I heard the letter being read out but the meaning was lost on me. A bit of sloppy writing there I think as so many of us missed it. I agree, I think he left because he was an impostor and realised he was going to be found out and it was just poorly written so it was unclear. My dad's theory is that he was the real deal and they left it open for him to come back next series, but I don't really see how they would bring him back under the dodgy circumstances of him leaving this time round. snowberry
Well, after that cliffhanger, they had to commission a third series didn't they?!
Alis girls
Yup we'll be swamped by hypochondriacs with the Spanish flu - all a bit far fetched - I thought Lavinia would peg it and Matthew looked like he'd been dug up - i think make up girls had been heavy handed with white face powder was hoping Cora would snuff it i find her irritating. Sundays wont be the same sob sob
Cinnamon
Did you know that the chap playing Captain wassisfaces nasty father, who wanted to take the baby away,is Phyllis Logans ( Mrs Huges, the housekeepers) husband in real life? Bramble
Not many surprises in last night's episode, what'll we do without DA though - it is to be replaced by I'm (used to be) a Celebrity next week, oh puhleeease ....
Chickendoodle
Mary - "Matthew, are you OK without your stick?" Matthew - "You are my stick" I have enjoyed this series but for all the wrong reasons. I saw a critic on BBC Breakfast who said that the whole series was how French & Saunders would do a sketch of Downton Abbey. Totally agree. This is spot on I think http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2058390/As-series-Downton-ends-JAN-MOIR-says-yes-plots-barmy-weve-loved-melodramatic-minute.html
Egluntyne
Here are my predicitions for the future plot lines. Avert your eyes if necessary. 1.Sir Richard Wotshisface will be the real murderer of Mrs Bates. He was inexplicably late for dinner on the evening of the murder. I bet she came back with a further demand for money and he had her bumped off. 2. Lady Sybil and the chauffeur will provide Lord Grantham with an heir, knocking Matthew out of the running, and causing the chauffeur to reconsider his politics.
