sjp
I think yesterday was the worst day here so far this year but the wind over night has dried up some of the mud but it'll not last first drop of rain and it'll be soup again but suns out with a nice little breeze 15-20 straight days like this would be nice
The Dogmother
It has suddenly gone dark here and the wind has got up - reckon we're in for more rain.
Valkyrie
We've had freezing squally showers in between the sun. Luckily they blow over quickly.
chickencam
We had a brief snow shower from the dark sky, but within 10 minutes the sun was shining and it still is
Groovychook
We have weird sky here too. We had a brief thunder storm at 11pm last night I have never heard thunder so loud Just been chatting to my MIL who lives in Cheltenham and she said the very same thing. She thought a building had collapsed! We've had a few sleety/ hail showers but it's lovely and sunny now. Hoping it lasts for a few hours
Egluntyne
My greenhouse is in pieces, but the chicken coops are unscathed thank goodness. Next door's fence is festooned around the neighbourhood, and numerous trees are down in the area. It is glorious today. For now.
The Dogmother
Sorry to hear that Eggers, at least you're relatively unscathed.
Purplemaniacs
There are trees down along Clark's Lane in Farthinghoe, but you will need to let them season for a year as they were alive. That brought back memories I went to school in Farthinghoe, I wonder if it still has it's primary school? My greenhouse is in pieces, but the chicken coops are unscathed thank goodness. Next door's fence is festooned around the neighbourhood, and numerous trees are down in the area. It is glorious today. For now. Sorry to hear about your greenhouse Egluntyne, glad you and your chooks are ok. It was windy here last night but I think we got off quite lightly compared to some areas of the country. Lovely bright day here, cold in the wind but quite pleasant in the sun which was good as I had to do lunchtime play duty to cover for someone Chrissie
The Dogmother
It does Chrissie. Clark's Lane is currently partly-submerged too.
Space Chick
Well Wild Wednesday was very wild where we are in South Wales. OH and I commute together, and there were 3 road closures on our 10.5 mile journey home saw sooo many trees down we had to chose a long and weird route home which took over an hour. Then arrived home to find we had no power.... It had gone off at 11am and came back on at 2am. Thankfully we have a gas cooker and a coal fire, so we managed (I'm sure my Yankee Candle collection helped ) We lost some Perspex sheets from the hens runs roofs but nothing too severe bearing in mind it was 100 MPH gusts! Today, it's like a completely different season, no wind, blue skies and the odd shower
chickencam
Lovely fresh blustery bright afternoon here, cold now.
lillybettybabs
Just off for a blowy dog walk.... OH thinks that i am insane going out there but labs want their walks no matter what the weather, the springers are happy with a pee in the garden. The Dogmother
Yes, it's mad out there isn't it? Blowing an absolute hooley here, thrashing with rain and 4deg It must be terrible on the south coast/South west.
lillybettybabs
Very worrying, I did look on the red cross website to see if they needed anything down there but no information about sending stuff down etc. i could spare some blankets etc and maybe some animal stuff. The Dogmother
There's been a landslide on the rail tracks (southbound) between Leamington and Banbury, looks bad from the photos I saw. Generally, flooding around here isn't as bad as some areas, but the wind has meant that we've had to stop using the big diggers at work, and the floodgates on the lakes are open again. The Dogmother
It's almost dark now, and really pelting down. The wind is pretty scary too. One of the men has just gone out in a landy to Banbury, so I'll get a report on conditions in town when he gets back. I now have my sheepskin boots on and my toes are thawing out, office temp up to 17deg
lillybettybabs
I invested in 6 waterproof dog onesies in the sale and they have been a godsend on our walks today, No muddy splatters in the house and 6 warm dry dogs.
The Dogmother
Don't tell my Cyrus! Absolutely mad here at the moment; the sky cleared VERY briefly, but it's dark again and back to thrashing rain.
lillybettybabs
My walk was pretty blustery and i could have done with some wipers on my glasses. Tried to get OH out to take a photo of the sky as it was a deep orange with a dark silhouette of the tree line but he wasn't budging from the wood burner. I was going to get someone to s"Ooops, word censored!"e the moss off our roof, I am pleased that i haven't got round to doing it as it seems to be holding the roof tiles on tonight! soapdragon
Mad weather this evening....thank goodness its half term and we can, quite literally, now batten down the hatches and not have to dash out at 8.30am and 2.30pm just as it starts to pour - I am convinced that there is a man with attitude and a switch at the weather centre as it always starts just before drop off/pick up! I just wish cars would slow down a bit and not drench passers by Poor Fang the hamster had to be PTS on Wednesday and it was a nightmare digging a hole to bury her......... it kept filling up with water; it would have been funny had the boys and I not been in floods ourselves
