Groovychook
Been just a horrible day here Roaring gale force winds and lashing with rain. More slates off the roof this evening... not looking forward to inspecting the damage in the morning

Space Chick
Can't sleep the wind is really loud and I can hear things being blown around the garden. The huge conifer just beyond our garden wall is terrifying me Not looking forward to daylight and seeing what's gone on
chickencam
Horrible here too, just couldn't sleep for worrying about the wind and also if it will affect DS's journey to Heathrow and his flight to the US later, just got up ready to put him on a coach at 6am. The Dogmother
Been vile here all night, with very little sleep despite earplugs. Am about to venture out and inspect any damage
Space Chick
Very little sleep for me, I haven't braved looking at the damage other than through the window as it's still blowing a gale, and I'm off out in an hour. Chicken runs are intact though and that's my main concern
chickencam
Horrible here at 6am when we took DS to the coach and we had a torrential hail storm just as it got light, quite bright and blustery now.
Groovychook
Feeling very bleary eyed here too. Hardly any sleep- it was SO noisy and my mind was working overtime! It calmed down a couple of hours ago... the chook's run is still standing thankfully and I'll check out the roof damage when I've had a few cups of tea. Hope your son's flight hasn't been affected Liz and that it's not too turbulent.
dancing cloud
Heavy rain and very dark and windy here. Standing water in the garden (on the side of a hill ) and the chooks refused to budge from their bed when I opened the , but that could be more to do with lack of maggots. Just about to get ready to go out and get said maggots. Remind me again how keeping pets is supposed to be good for you ...
lillybettybabs
Very violent winds last night here! An old tree has blown down in the field next to our house , thankfully it fell into the field and not onto the road! Free fire wood hurray
The Dogmother
Good womble re the firewood! Just got back from Stratford, and there are lanes closed and trees down all over the show. Lots of surface water too.
Space Chick
Went to the farmers market this morning. Roads were dodgy in places, but nothing too bad. However, I know all the farmers really well as I've been buying from them for several years (well today was a new free range poultry farmer, the last one went out of business which I was devastated about as we were like old friends). Anyhow, I was speaking to the pig farmer and said what a surprise it was that the lamb farmer wasn't there. Apparently, their fields have been really badly flooded and they have needed to move the sheep into the sheds, and with lambing as well they are having a really hard time keeping the sheep safe, clean and well. So they had made the decision that spending the morning doing tasks with the livestock was more important than selling the meat. The pig farmer was saying though that his pigs have really enjoyed this bad weather
The Dogmother
Less rainy here now, and a bit brighter but still really blowy.
Groovychook
Had a few showers yesterday but plenty of sun and just a slight breeze. Glorious start to the day this morning, crisp and sunny- just the odd wispy cloud If only it would stay like this!

Eggasperated
Beautiful day here. Girls sunning themselves in the garden, dog fast asleep in his basket, first ladybird of the year wandering through the conservatory; and me? I'm painting windows again . Space Chick
Cleaned out the walk in runs and then left them to dry all day before putting fresh bedding down. It's been a gorgeous day
Guest
It ha been glorious here, one of the best days we have had for a very long time. Wish we could have a month of todays weather Think we are in for a good frost overnight though as it was proper chapel hat pegs out there when I tucked the chicken in. The Dogmother
Clear here now and cold after a lovely day. Had a super walk in the late afternoon sun, the fields are very boggy though, and even the hills are muddy, making it a bit of a workout. I could clearly see the flooding around Broughton Castle from the top of the hill... like an inland sea! I ought to go over there to see the damage.
