Does everyone know there is a solar eclipse tomorrow? I'm quite excited, hope it's a good one.

School have cancelled their Good Work Assembly, usually held at 9.00am, so that they can all 'observe' the eclipse. Should be full on around 9.30am here....just hope that its not cloudy

I'm wondering if my girlies will go back to bed. Last time I had no chickens but seem to remember the birds all went flying round and off to roost.

We had an email round at work this afternoon to remind us of the safety aspect of watching it, and that we are all excused work for 20 minutes tomorrow to watch it.

I find it creepy that it becomes dark during the day. Am interested in watching hens get confused though. I dont remember eclipses from my childhood. I remember the 1999 one.

We have also postponed our school assembly and purchased the special glasses for all the children. I hope it is not cloudy.

I was planning on going for a run tomorrow morning but am wondering if it'll get too dark to see where I'm going . Might take my chicken headtorch with me in case!

OH has the day off work and I got the Sky at Night Magazine with free Eclipse glasses. Video camera ready to film all the crescents if it isn't cloudy, and to film what the Pobs do.

 

We are both interested in seeing how they react.

 

During the 1999 one, the crescent shadows from tree leaves was eerie and my previous dog just bumbled along as before taking no notice.

Nice bright sky here this morning with quite a bit of blue in it so have great hopes that we will be able to see the eclipse.

The Boy is really into his astronomy, and took stills of the last eclipse, and the transitting of Venus a few years later.

it's cloudy here it is thinning out but from the wrong direction it's a really still morning

The cloud is thinning rapidly here, I will be at work but my colleague is all set up with a pinhole projector and a bucket of water, not sure what that is for but I will wait and see. Not sure if we will be out in the rickety Regency balcony or out on the front steps

Thick blanket of cloud here so I guess it will just get darker.

Spring equinox and a super moon and an eclipse - wish I didn't watch 2012 the other day.

VERY cool. The perfect amount of fog here to be able to see it really clearly. Got dim like really early morning and the rooks went to bed! Will post my rubbish pic later but the sun was a perfect thin smile

Very cloudy here but the dog sat still and silent in the garden. Pixie went in the coop and Winnie and Lily sat puffed up and motionless for around 15 mins. Got darker and freezing. All the wild birds went silent too.

I took my headtorch (I know, I know ) and tried to get up to the top of the hill for 9.32am (running late thanks to the garage mucking up my courtesy car ). Didn't get there in time but even though I was outdoors, I didn't notice any changes in light or temperature and it was just too cloudy to see anything much. Disappointed .

No noticeable effect on the wild birds, but the chickens were nearly all quiet and began their evening preening a bit early.
