Martin B
Hi, I was just wondering what everybody thoght about their harvests this year. Have their bean (sorry ) any huge successes and gluts or contrastingly any failures and dissapointments where you got a poor/little crop. For me I have had a lot of dissapointments: Spring Onions (Refused to Germinate) Raddish (Refused to grow after germinating) Broad Beans (Produced a crop of less than 1/2kg. From 4 rows) Brocolli (Human Error - MANY TIMES. First my Dad dug them over when he was meant to be digging over something else, then my cousin dug them over by accident thinking the brocolli was weeds, and then I planted some more seeds and they germinated but all died!) Greenhouse (Not a single tomato or cucumberthis year, somebody sprayed a weedkiller on their plot and it blew into my greenhouse. Strawberries (Slug eaten, often tasted like chemicals and stoled by other lottie holders) Miracles: Dwarf Beans (A crop of 6.5kg) Courgettes (Usually had 1 or 2 a day over the summer and they're still cropping now) Runner Beans (Continue Flowering and Cropping no matter what) Beetroot (Lots of delicious bulbs, ready for pickling now) Blight Free Potatoes (15 good sized potatoes off each plant) Looking forward to your input

Egluntyne
Not a brilliant year. The weather is to blame of course. The things I have managed to grow have all been very nice. Just not enough of them.

SarahJo
Successes - Tomatoes, Aubergines, Sweetcorn, Apples, Lettuces. Failures ( that did do well last year ) - runner beans and Courgettes. Sweet peas have also been good again this year. In the wilds - the sloes are going blue, and there are BAGS of hazelnuts - no field mushrooms yet though round here . Oh, and blackberries - some ready, some will be in the next couple of weeks.

Chicken Licken
I have found the solution to my Veg glut of things I'm not too keen on!! Yesterday I put a plastic box outside my house with a note to please help yourself to free fresh vegetables. Full of: 10 x courgettes ( I even tried courgette chocolate cake but there are just too many!) 2 x bags of runner beans (freezer is full) bunches of spinach and rainbow chard ( I have loads) I thought it would still be there at the end of the afternoon. Within 3 hours - all gone. This evening I have planted winter radishes, winter lettuce, Lambs lettuce and radichio. Let's hope they taste nice! ubereglu
You should have put an honesty box out for people to donate money to. Then it would go towards the cost of seeds etc. I'm very jealous, we've had zero courgettes from our one and only plant.
Chicken Licken
They were yellow ones and the slugs haven't touched them. My green ones have been totally destroyed - funny isn't it.
