Ain't Nobody Here
Haha, that sounds better . Well, it's over . I think it went well, I didn't dry up and answered almost all their questions without any problems. I managed to get over quite a few facts about the RSPB which they seemed to appreciate and there was quite a lot of laughter! We overran by 15 minutes which is hopefully a good sign too. I met the chap who does 2 days in the same role - I'm supposed to be the other half of the week which isn't what I was led to believe but they said for the right person they would be flexible so 5 mornings should be ok. He was nice enough but a bit laidback and unenthusiastic .

soapdragon
Phew....you have done your best now its in the lap of the Gods! Sounds very positive...I used to interview for the nursery management company I worked for and, believe me, we didn't over run if we were not keen on the candidate Relax and know that you have done your best and there is nothing more you can do - what will be will be - sleep well tonight and let us know how it goes (sending positive vibes, tho....does no harm!!!!!!) Ain't Nobody Here
Just got an email from them. The head of the department wants me to come in for a 20 minute informal chat next Thursday - "it is important that she has confidence in the person we finally appoint." One step closer, I suppose, but the waiting is killing me .

dancing cloud
Very positive - well done you ! The head of dept wouldn't be speaking to you unless you were at least under very serious consideration. Go for it !

Ain't Nobody Here
Thanks everyone . My only concern is that it is a looooong time since I was a proper administrator/PA/secretary so I've decided on a cunning plan to overcome that. If I was able to do all the jobs in the job spec successfully 30 years ago, just imagine how brilliant I'll be now with the aid of technology, maturity and experience . soapdragon
Nothing beats maturity and experience........life skills in general are VERY underated! I remember hearing a top employer interviewed on radio saying that he would far rather employ mature mums than college leavers/youngsters as they were by far better organised, more focused, with better attention to detail and used to just getting on with things and getting the job done.........wise man
Ain't Nobody Here
Couldn't agree more . Also, we're not going to go off and have babies, our children are old enough to look after themselves and, in my case, even my mum isn't a problem as she's in a nursing home now. I was asked at the interview if it was a problem that there might not be any career progression and I said absolutely not, I'm 53 and would be happy to be in a busy job that I enjoy and makes a difference - I then said they'd have me till I retire!
