Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Oh Lord. Does anyone else feel like they're melting? Not sure I can stand 2 more weeks of this.

 

If someone want to come and fan me with a palm leaf 24/7 for the next few weeks, that would be appreciated!

I like mediocre weather.

I think it got to 35℃ yesterday in London. OH works in a massive lorry Depot where the temperature is generally much hotter than whatever is the average for any day. His fitbit said he did 30,000 steps which is something like 12 miles I think....and the people sitting in their air conditioned offices nag them constantly.

I'd like something between the dismal rain and achingly hot - words like nice weather or a pleasant day.

I like sun but I prefer spring or autumn warmth (not the cold either). I don't mind warm rain - that's nice but this is like going on holiday but having to do chores and water the garden while dripping with perspiration - enough to deter slugs in their tracks! Hmmm and now I have my nematodes to water in. Best do that before the thunderstorms . . . if any!

Thunderstorms since 3.40 this morning and rain on and off and still rumbling about this morning - still raining - grey and horrid after the lovely day yesterday! That was Scotlands summer - one day!

Totally with Cat Tails, though it was very pleasant taking the dogs out at 6.00am this morning.

 

Not at all pleasant last night when trying to sleep, especially as Loki-cat still wanted to cuddle up.

 

No thunderstorms here at all, though there's plenty of time yet.

the older I get less I can take the heat spend the last 3 days stuck indoors painting well 3 half days really come noon it got unbearable so had to knock it on the head and go home roll on winter at least if it ain't raining I can get some heavy work done outside

I got very excited to see that we were promised thunder storms at 2 and 3 o'clock this afternoon but they have not materialised and have now been downgraded, according to the online forecast for RAF Benson, to light showers at 4....not holding my breath! That said, we are teased with cooler temps tomorrow so holding out for a slight decrease in temps!

 

I don't like hot heat (if you know what I mean ) warm sunshine is one thing and just fine but this sweltering airlessness is too much. Its like having a hot, wet blanket thrown over the face!

I hate the heat - my melting point's about 24 Celsius I've a choice of either working outside, sweat dripping from *everywhere*, or sitting inside behind a PC screen, spending my time sweating from everywhere *whilst* squishing thunderbugs on the screen before they find their way behind the glass and spend the rest of existence as a small but rather annoying blurry black blob on my monitor

 

Oh how I long for proper seasons again!

It wouldn't be so bad if we had steady decent weather, rather than lots of "unseasonable" weather and then all of summer in 2 days flat!

We do seem to get mini heatwaves rather than an average summer these days . The week before it was 16 degrees which is too cold for summer then 7 days later the temperature doubles for 2 days. Much more pleasant by yesterday evening, cool breeze and less baking sun. Sadly overcast here today but warm, we get a lot of cloud in Gloucestershire . Fortunately I only work 2 days a week because I work in a listed building with large windows and it gets unbearable in hot weather, we have been eating medicinal ice cream this week.

Def. cooler here in south Oxfordshire today but not a sign of a rain cloud let alone a lightening flash - I am living in hope.

Another one here who loves the heat (half Italian) but even i thought it was a bit too warm when I was walking the dogs t'other evening. It is much cooler now, but not had any rain.

Oh Lord... the last day hasn't been too bad. But the other night was *horrendous* I felt like I was dying.

 

I have a theory that it's something to do with being a winter baby. My father told me that it was -18 degrees (celsius) the night I was born.

 

My optimal temperature is between 16 - 20; 21 - 25 is very warm, 25+ is extremely hot. 30+ makes me feel like I am dying!

 

A few years ago I was in Budapest during a heatwave. The hottest day we were there it got to 42... I left the hotel for about 2 hours and had to come back and spent the rest of the day in the pool until it closed... then I made it down to the air conditioned bar.

Oh, that must have been chilly. I know the night I was born was the coldest night on record where I was born. Maybe it's region specific?

I remember my mother talking about that winter and walking the dog through snowdrifts and nearly losing her.

 

I was born in June and I don't mind the heat just don't like it when it is very humid too.

 

Went to archery yesterday afternoon and it was very pleasant, the evening was just perfect, warm calm, shame my arrows still didn't find the gold very often

Apparently, it started snowing on Boxing Day snd there was still snow on the ground in March!!!!

We used to have winters like that where I grew up (Cheltenham).

 

I remember going to school with snow drifts that came up to the windowsills on the first floor - we had to get into the building walking through a trench that was nearly as deep as I was tall at the time. lol

 

When we got snow days it was great, we all used to go sledging in the hills. I seem to remember one year we had snow on the highest hills until March or April.

 

It's a shame it doesn't snow that way anymore (IMO). Still, if global warming continues at the rate it makes you wonder what the weather and temperature will be like in another 30 years!!

the old man always said that the winter of 1946-47 was worst than the 1962-63 winter even through the later on paper was a bad one, he worked through both off them

the most snow I remember was 1980 it started snowing about 2 weeks before Christmas a little after 11:30 am on the Sunday by 1:30 We'd got nearly 2ft of snow on the ground this I remember because it was the Christ-tingle service on that afternoon and it was the first one Mom organized completely and by dinner time she was starting to panic thinking no one would turn up. We got back to church just after 1:30 partly to make sure the heating was on pre timer so had to be on at least an hour to warm up service was at 2:30 church was standing room only by 2pm and the air thick with incense by 2 :15 one of my best holy smoke jobs if I do say so it lingered til the Monday my best was a Easter Sunday that lingered til the Tuesday that one I paid for through I was ill for a week after but it was worth it

No rain to be had in Shropshire until Sunday on our way home - even then it was still quite warm and we've still had all the windows open. Very warm again today so watered the veg - the rain tubs are almost empty!
