Here We Go Round The Baking Tent....again!

Recommended Posts

Missed the last episode and for some reason the re-run is in the middle of the nigth... How is it possible that Val is still in?

Because she's from Yorkshire and knows how to make a good Yorkshire pudding!

:lol::lol:

Ok fine

I watched the episode on Youtube. Some lady uploads it there. I liked batter week, although I didn't think the pancake thing was a real challenge.

I think it's silly when Paul and Mary start commenting the flavour of the products of the technical challenge. They have all the same ingredients... It's not like some will add vanilla or something. With this one there was the question of sugar or no sugar or loads of sugar, but I can't imagine there will be big differences with the other challenges.

I look forward to whatever the BBC are going to produce, obviously it cannot be the same format but I'm hazarding a guess that it will involve Mary, Mel and Sue and some amateur bakers with lots of advice and tips for home bakers.

One of the reasons I enjoy Bake Off so much is that it doesn't have the rather sneering approach that many of these reality shows have - Mary always finds something positive to say, and I pick up loads of information about why you need to do things a certain way. Doesn't stop me having the occasional soggy bottom, but it has a friendly feel that I think will be lacking if it's just Paul Hollywood. Go, Mary! :lol:

I am not at all surprised that Mary has decided not to jump ship to Channel 4; after all, at 81 and with her track record, she has absolutely nothing to prove bar her dough! Strikes me Paul is chasing the dough of a different sort as well as 'fame' . Well, good luck to him but sad that he 'broke up' the team. The BEEB would, I am sure, have found another 'vehicle' for them all.

Good on Mary and the girls for sticking with The BEEB and the original format ..... they can easily go it alone whilst Paul will have to team up with someone else and start from scratch. Mary and the girls have a lovely chemistry together; I wonder how they feel about Paul's 'defection'? If I were in their shoes I think I'd feel somewhat betrayed.

The remainder of the current series will be very poignant; obviously they (the presenters and contestants) didn't know anything at all about this when they were filming; maybe a good thing too.

My hubby and I cheered when Vals name was announced. I dont know what it was about her, but I just didn't like her :oops: I also didn't like how she was oh I know how to make this, I do it all the time etc and it went wrong every time. However, when I heard her exit interview, I did feel a little bit sorry for her. Only a little mind :wink:

As for the other issue, I am so pleased Mary, Mel and Sue will be doing something with the BBC :D I will prob watch one episode of Pauls new thing, but I am so cross with him and the production company, I won't enjoy it, even if it is good :wink:

I am very excited to see who will make it to the semi! There is one person, however, who drives me mental with pouting, simpering and general girly posturing unbecoming in any female over the age of four. It just seems like such a calculated 'act' when all the others seem so genuine.

Can't get my head round how laid back Selasi is tho! He often seems to be either helping others or offering to help as he is usually finished early. Jane generally does brilliantly then seems so surprised and pleased to get P and M's praise - I think she will be a finalist if not the winner! Sadly I think Tom and Rav are the next two to depart, unless one of the others has a complete disaster.

I think they are all very brave esp to face Jo Brand and the celebs on An Extra Slice! There has been no mention by Jo about the Channel 4 sell out; I wonder when these episodes are filmed!? On that subject; it seems that C4 were unaware, when they did the deal, that the presenters were not neccesarilly part and parcel of it! Numpties!

Yes, I agree Soapdragon.....I do hope she doesn't get through to the final, it would be too painful watching her....though I think she might. She is creative.

I hope someone has watched the link I put up, I think it's fab :lol: I can't begin to imagine the time it took to put it together, someone must have a lot of time on their hands!
