Cat tails
Missed the last episode and for some reason the re-run is in the middle of the nigth... How is it possible that Val is still in? Because she's from Yorkshire and knows how to make a good Yorkshire pudding! Ok fine I watched the episode on Youtube. Some lady uploads it there. I liked batter week, although I didn't think the pancake thing was a real challenge. I think it's silly when Paul and Mary start commenting the flavour of the products of the technical challenge. They have all the same ingredients... It's not like some will add vanilla or something. With this one there was the question of sugar or no sugar or loads of sugar, but I can't imagine there will be big differences with the other challenges. The others are all very good so who knows who will be out next.

Olly
So ... Mary is staying with the BBC but Paul will go to Channel 4. bbc website Sorry Paul - still not going to watch it, it won't be the same!
newcountrygirl
I am glad Mary has stuck by her principles. Didn't think we could expect the same from Paul Hollywood. He strikes me as someone who just wants the money and publicity. It won't be the gentle show it was. Hope everyone decides not to watch it. It will serve them right. Oops - rant over! Olly
I look forward to whatever the BBC are going to produce, obviously it cannot be the same format but I'm hazarding a guess that it will involve Mary, Mel and Sue and some amateur bakers with lots of advice and tips for home bakers. One of the reasons I enjoy Bake Off so much is that it doesn't have the rather sneering approach that many of these reality shows have - Mary always finds something positive to say, and I pick up loads of information about why you need to do things a certain way. Doesn't stop me having the occasional soggy bottom, but it has a friendly feel that I think will be lacking if it's just Paul Hollywood. Go, Mary! sjp
I think C4 'discovered' Paul Hollywood in the first place only good thing about him stay put is there's less chance of C4's main male food faces fronting the show still think Jo Brand will be in the frame as presenter through
Groovychook
Jo Brand will be in the frame as presenter through I'd be surprised if she took the job. She always strikes me as a very principled person
Alis girls
It will be smutty and rude. I wont watch it. Cant think who they will get to replace Mel and Sue. Prob Davina (groan) or Holly (pain in the neck) Willobooby as OH calls her - cant think why cant abide either of em - or that annoying Mylene (I'm on everything) Glass. GRRRRR
soapdragon
I am not at all surprised that Mary has decided not to jump ship to Channel 4; after all, at 81 and with her track record, she has absolutely nothing to prove bar her dough! Strikes me Paul is chasing the dough of a different sort as well as 'fame' . Well, good luck to him but sad that he 'broke up' the team. The BEEB would, I am sure, have found another 'vehicle' for them all. Good on Mary and the girls for sticking with The BEEB and the original format ..... they can easily go it alone whilst Paul will have to team up with someone else and start from scratch. Mary and the girls have a lovely chemistry together; I wonder how they feel about Paul's 'defection'? If I were in their shoes I think I'd feel somewhat betrayed. The remainder of the current series will be very poignant; obviously they (the presenters and contestants) didn't know anything at all about this when they were filming; maybe a good thing too. mullethunter
I don't really blame either of them and am not surprised by either. Mary could not be any more BBC if she tried! And tbh she may have been ready for less work anyway - I certainly expect I will be at her age! My money's on Lorraine Pascal to team up with Paul on C4. Grandmashazzie
Ali's girls my sentiments exactly. I think a Beeb show with the three girls would be perfect. Paul is definitely good to look at but as the show has progressed I have liked him less.He has become less of a team player and would just love The Great Paul Holywood Bake Off, full of double entendres and leering. bluekarin
My hubby and I cheered when Vals name was announced. I dont know what it was about her, but I just didn't like her I also didn't like how she was oh I know how to make this, I do it all the time etc and it went wrong every time. However, when I heard her exit interview, I did feel a little bit sorry for her. Only a little mind As for the other issue, I am so pleased Mary, Mel and Sue will be doing something with the BBC I will prob watch one episode of Pauls new thing, but I am so cross with him and the production company, I won't enjoy it, even if it is good
Cat tails
I did feel quite sorry for Val during the last episode. If it was me, I would have had a meltdown at that filo pastry horror. She looked so desperate but still went on! Did think she was well past her time in the tent and should have left a few episodes ago.
soapdragon
I am very excited to see who will make it to the semi! There is one person, however, who drives me mental with pouting, simpering and general girly posturing unbecoming in any female over the age of four. It just seems like such a calculated 'act' when all the others seem so genuine. Can't get my head round how laid back Selasi is tho! He often seems to be either helping others or offering to help as he is usually finished early. Jane generally does brilliantly then seems so surprised and pleased to get P and M's praise - I think she will be a finalist if not the winner! Sadly I think Tom and Rav are the next two to depart, unless one of the others has a complete disaster. I think they are all very brave esp to face Jo Brand and the celebs on An Extra Slice! There has been no mention by Jo about the Channel 4 sell out; I wonder when these episodes are filmed!? On that subject; it seems that C4 were unaware, when they did the deal, that the presenters were not neccesarilly part and parcel of it! Numpties! clucker1
Yes, I agree Soapdragon.....I do hope she doesn't get through to the final, it would be too painful watching her....though I think she might. She is creative. I hope someone has watched the link I put up, I think it's fab I can't begin to imagine the time it took to put it together, someone must have a lot of time on their hands!
