little chickadee
I was just wondering if I am the only one on the forum who doesn't watch TV. I can't watch it anyway as my eyes get too tired if I watch moving pictures (my M.E) I only used to watch about 1 hr a week anyway though as I always thought there were loads of other better things to be doing . I know this is kind of unusual though. Anyone else out there? Edited December 13, 2007 by Guest
The Dogmother
I'm with you too Hon. I only watch about an hour a week when I am ironing, other times I am just too busy. besides if I sat still for two minutes I'd fall asleep! I'm even dashing around when I'm on the forum - every time I walk past the PC, I have a look! We have a tiny 14" portable TV, but it meets our needs. Ain't Nobody Here
Not me, I usually watch a lot of telly . Not as much as I used to however, I'm on here all the time instead . This won't mean anything to you two but I like: My Name is EarlHave I Got News For YouNever Mind the Buzzcocks30 RockUniversity Challenge (we have our own challenge, first question answered makes the coffee, sometimes takes a while )Without a Tracedrama series like Six Feet Under, Heroes, Brothers & Sistersanything by David Attenborough Other stuff I can't quite think of just now. chickencam
We watch very little telly. I have been watching Spooks which I love but was a big disapointment this week. We watch live sport mainly football and tennis and have Sky mainly for that but that does have the bonus of the music channels, and we all love our music. I don't do soaps so predicatable, but do like the occasional food show especially HFW and the odd film but we really don't do our Sky subscribtion justice. Christian
The tv is never on if I am home without OH. I occasionally watch QI if i remember it is on......Love Stephen Fry! I am too busy doing housework Or on the forum (once in a blue moon)
Egluntyne
I'm a massive Coronation Street fan. Well I am a Mancunian. Quite like The Bill.
Laura & CTB
We've just got rid of Sky subscriptiona s we realised we weren't using it that much - I am very selective in what I watch -usually anything to do with crime fiction, CSI, NCIS etc and that all gets shown on freeview. Mrs Frugal
We hardly watch anything anymore as we find most programmes are a disappointment . However, we all loved the Alan Titchmarsh Nature of Britain programme which has just finished. I think the only other things we watch regularly now are Top Gear, Spooks and Holby ( ). Lesley
I love my Televisions - all of them I'm not very good at just sitting though and I tend to have it on whilst doing something else. I like some of the morning programmes as well and I either have them on while I work or I record stuff to watch later.... also whilst doing something else. If I'm busy and moving from room to room, I will turn on different TVs. When the day comes that I don't learn something new every day......... then I might consider watching it less............. Mrs Frugal
Oh Lesley ! I used to do that but I can't have the TV on during the daytime anymore or I'd end up getting nothing done . Those lifestyle shows are addictive . As soon as LSH and the boys leave for school and work, the TV gets switched off, not on standby either as it's tempting! It doesn't go on again till LSH gets home in the evening. Most evenings, we'd rather watch a DVD than what's scheduled though. We've dropped most of our Sky channels and only have the documentaries now as there is sometimes something interesting or informative on there. No films anymore and certainly no sport, lifestyle or music channels.
bronze
I think I watch an average amount. My addicition is partly due to the fact that I didn't get to watch tv until I was 19. If you average the amount out of a lifetime though I don't think it'll be much Edited December 13, 2007 by Guest
Tina C
I was the girl at school who never knew what anyone was on about when they talked about what they watched on TV last night. I still don't watch much but we do view a few things as a family - X-Factor is the main one at the moment (now Long Way Down has finshed). Dr Who and Sarah Jane Adventures are also favourites here. Layla asked me to record the Royal Variety Show on Sunday and I forgot, but fortunately so has she! When I am on my own I don't really watch TV unless I am poorly/tired. And NEVER in the daytime - too many other things to do. OH can't understand how I can read the paper, talk on the phone/have a conversation and watch TV at the same time. 1. I am female 2. TV alone is not enough to keep me still
bronze
I was the girl at school who never knew what anyone was on about when they talked about what they watched on TV last night. that was me too. At primary school I even had a sign I kept in my drawer saying I don't know I didnt watch it or something similar as it was amazing how many projects the teachers did on something that had been on tv. I used to sit and do something else with my sign in front of me.

Phil has 3 TVs at his house and usually has them all on at once, plus the stereo in his kitchen... still wondering why we don't live together? I go round hid house, turning off lights and TVs
Tessa the Duchess
When both children finally left home we made the decision to remove the tv from the living room and install it in a room where we have a sofa and sewing machine and general 'don't know where it lives' stuff. It has really changed my life for the better, I watch Question Time and This Week on a Thursday evening and that is pretty much it. Every week I get a tv guide with the Sat newspaper and I look through to see if there is 'anything' I want to watch, and there never is I do listen to Radio 4 constantly though. I remember the good old days when programmes like Inspector Morse and Frost were on, 'tis a lot of rubbish now Tessa
Cinnamon
We watch TV every evening, but I don't like it on until after supper. On the weekends I cook food that can bea eaten from a bowl on your lap,& we watch X-Factor etc with our supper,in the living room. We watch a fair bit, & also Sky+ a lot to watch at a later date. Lots of things we all love - My Name is Earl, Ugly Betty, QI, Never Mind The Buzzcocks,Strictly,Mock The Week & so on The Hubby likes awful shows on Sky where men make useless things out of rubbish,or fishing shows.Yes,there are actually TV shows on fishing I have been loving 'To The Manor Bowen' & 'Bens Zoo' which I watch with the youngest daughter, along with 'Americas Next Top Model','Project Runway','House','CSI', & many more. 'Caliafornicatin' & 'Sex & The City' I watch on my own
little chickadee
i don't know how people get time to watch the hours of telly each week which surveys say they do. i'm just going to add a poll to this
chelsea
The tv is never on if I am home without OH. im the same, but hubby is a real tv addict. I like "quiet time" so enjoy complete silence when he's not here. I think its got something to do with listening to people moaning all day at work When I do watch telly - I DONT do soaps. I like travel/adventure programmes (I used to love Lonely Planet) and stuff similar to that.
The Dogmother
I think I'd be the same if I ever watched it Chelsea. My sister has her ginormous plasma thingy on almost 24/7, blaring out like distracting wallpaper!
Egluntyne
Him Indoors always leaves the telly on which drives me mad. I have to have Radio 4 on when I'm pottering about, cleaning or cooking. I tell myself that the radio doesn't use up anything like the electricity that the telly does. I have a wind up one for outdoor jobs. Cinnamon
We treated ourselves to a big flat screen TV for the bedroom, which along with our new huge bed is brilliant. Sometimes the 4 of us & the cat all hunker down in the bedroom,on the bed to watch a movie together,& its just bliss
Lesley
I have a small portable in the bedroom, tucked away in a corner, but I only listen to the news in the morning while I get dressed.
Cinnamon
Our bedroom TV is also the Wii Tv, so the children can sit up there & play undisturbed if they like We just need to soundproof the room now.............
