The Omleteers Christmas Tree Photographs Thread

Recommended Posts

We bought our tree today form Argos for the bargain price of £9.97, it was originally priced at £39.99.

It's black, & came with the lights & decorations. We usually get a real tree, but not this year because of

a. the credit crunch

b. we are sick of finding pine needles in the living room in the summer

Here's the tree, Ethan helped me decorate it, & hubby is so proud of it he took the photos for me using his posh camera, & he even asked me to put the pictures on here to share with you all :lol:

we went to a Christmas tree farm on Sunday and bought "Norman" our Nordman fir tree.

Norman is very big, in fact - way too big for our frontroom  (he's blocking all the light coming into the window!), he's very wide and bushy.

Will post a pic later.

Your tree looks lovely Jules. :D

very swish Jules :D

We have a fibre optic tree which goes up every year, we never usually bother hanging anything on it apart from some red and gold bead garlands (I don't think it needs anything else) there's a pic of it in my signature, taken last year.

I'm hoping to do some origami decs this year though so if I do, I'll post a piccie :D

it makes a bit of noise but nothing drastic. We had a budgie for years (god rest him) and what with the noise of the TV coupled with him tweeting, I can't say we ever noticed it really.

None of it is my work. I was wondering aloud to my OH yesterday about how sad it will be when the children are old enough for the tinsel to be symmetrical!

Pardon the mess. I remember being shocked last year about how posh and grown up some of your trees are! OH has named this year's tree "Jethro" and it's a Nordman Fir, as they don't drop much.

we have the same tree every year which is a really good looking fake I have to say. We got it for 60% off in the January sales years back now and it's still looking as new although it wasn't cheap at all even with 50% off!. I will try to post a pic later as my OS always decorates this every year in time for my birthday which is a long standing tradition in my whole family :D

He makes such a lovely job, the only argument we have is whether we have the light up snowman or the fairy on top :lol::lol: he won this year!

We have a tree for the first time this year. Well we've had a little 1.5 footer other years. This one is fake to last us the next few years of having small people then I plan to get a real one. Its still looking quite grown up as dh and I decorated it on ds2s birthday (1st) with the new decorations then when I get them from the attic the children will add their random assortment.

I'll take a pic

Our tree is about 15 years' old and comes down from the loft the weekend before Christmas.

It is randomly decorated with various knitted angels, robins, snowmen etc made when the children were young and other equally ancient bits and pieces.

It used to be decorated from the middle up because one of our black labradors (now playing over the rainbow bridge with his brother) used to take all the lower decorations off and bring them to me one by one. bless.

However, current Labrador is not interested in such trivial things so we can now decorate the whole tree. :D Well, the side we can see.

We bought a very good fake tree about 7 years ago....but last year I wanted a real tree as well.

After buying it I worried that Jazz would decimate it so we put it in a large pot on the steps wehre we could see it from inside.....then bought a smaller one and had that inside on a table . They are both planted outside now, decorated with twinkly lights - where we can see them from the lounge and conservatory. The fake one goes in the porch - I'll take a photo later.

I did buy a set of twigs with little lights and red berries on which we have inside - and Jazz isn't interested in them :D

Should be getting our little tree this weekend hopefully, a nice small real one in a pot with roots so we can plant it in the field and dig it up again for next year! 8) (may have forgot to mention that in my absence from the forum in the last year I met & fell in love with my OH who happens to have just the same interests as me and luckily has a lovely 3 acre field as well!...which we have many plans for, including chickens!!!) sorry think I'm starting to ramble a bit.....must be the heineken!

We aren't putting ours up until the weekend of the 20th December. Normally we do it on the first weekend in December but get fed up with it all by Christmas. This year we are concentrating the CHristmas spirit into a couple of weeks. We have a fake tree which we bought about 5 years ago in the January sales, i think it was 70% off or something ridiculous. It's a really nice big tree. As kids, we always had a real tree but we can't be doing with the mess.

Our first Christmas as a couple, we were living in a house which had been converted into flats; we were on the top floor, in the attic actually. OH worked at a quarry and a field next door had loads of Christmas trees growing. Anyway, one night OH comes home with this enormous tree which he "borrowed" from the field. It was 8 foot high and 8 foot wide. We had to chop a couple of feet off the top. Our living room was long and narrow so we ended up spending the whole of Christmas squeezing past this oversized tree!

Anyway, once i do ours i'll post piccies. I'm in charge of the tree, no one else is allowed to touch it!

Lovley work omleteers

It a bit soon for me. Probably go for it not this weekend but next. Our fake on is a bit

I think we will be geting one from Norman at the wood yard up the road who kindly lets us use his land for the piggies and our table birds when we have them. I think a tree sale is the least we can do!

My personal preference for decorating the tree is all the stuff the kids have made and decorations that we have had forever. I couldnt bear to part with all the toilet roll crackers and odd looking angels the kids made when they were small in favour of a 'designer' looking colour themed tree. I like all my old tat. It brings nice memories.

Joshuas christmas angel that looks like a ghost that he made a nursery makes me smile every year. :D

We have decorations like that too :D little drums made out of camera film holders, and angel with the craziest wings ever  Each time they come out of the loft the children talk about each one and when they made it, asking how old they were etc and the crepe paper skirt on the angel that looks more and more grubby and creased each year.

The children have a tree in their playroom and they want to put their decorations on that :( so the one in the lounge has mostly old decs that have been bought over time or ones I make, and when the children were little they used to help put them on and they used to fill one or two branches, and leave the rest  I never had the heart to rearrange them.

No tree here either - we never put it up until after DSs birthday on the 7th, plus we are having floors laid and flues poked trough the roof and all sorts of excitement for the next week and a half or so.

The builders have already knocked down the stud wall between our living room and dining room and made a HUGE L-shaped room which will give me space for a humungous tree this year.
