We never got sent home from school because of snow either, Sunshine. You sat in the classroom, wearing your duffle coat!

The coal fired boiler stoked by Mr Fennessy wasn't a wimp and never conked out.

Those were the days, eh! Woo hoo, line manager rang - just as I'd put one sleeve of my waterproof on, thinking I'd better at least make the effort to go to the station. Seems there is a mobile network problem as he hadn't been able to get through to me either, anyway official word is Work is Closed, don't bother going in. Hurrah!

He did then suggest some work I could do at home  but since I'm a woman, I will be able to do that in half the time he thinks it will take me! So I've put the coat back on, I'm off to walk through the nature reserve in the snow to play with my friend who is going to meet me halfway!

I am 48, and I know I should take work more seriously, but you don't see snow like this very often!

Well, we had 2" this mornign and it's been snowing ever since. -2deg now and bitter out there. My folks in Herts had 4" over night and Phil left at some silly hour this am to to drive to a job in Kent and isn't sure whether he'll make it back or not. R's school is open (for now!) but the school trip down to London is off.

We have lovely deep snow here :D It has slowed down a bit now, but it keeps doing that. I've been out to take some photos - trying to get a good one of a shrub in our garden which has some lovely red berries for possible Xmas cards this year (well, it's only 300 and something days till Xmas :roll: ) The girls went out but I don't think they are that impressed with the cold white ground. They went back in their run which I shut and had no complaining so I think I'll keep them in there for most of today. My son and YD's school is shut today. I had to listen to our local radio station (which I hate) and they didn't announce it until nearly 8.30 which was when we were going to walk to school  . I was in the bathroom and my son was on school closure lisenting duty when he ran up the stairs shouting its closed!!!! Poor ED's school is open though. She was very disappointed, but I am sure it will still be on the ground when she gets home at 4.

both my sons and OS's friend are outside making snowmen, we have made a clear (ish) patch of grass and moved the eglu and run to that for the time being, and out popped the the girls!

They are enjoying some warm pasta as they didn't get to the porridge in time and it's cold!

The room service they get is unbelievable!, I wouldn't mind it!

About 4" of snow here and it's still coming down. As usual London has come grinding to a halt, there are no buses running, which means my son couldn't get to work, so he wont get paid  6 million people use the buses to get to work, why can't they grit the roads in time they've had days of warning that this snow was going to happen  My chickens are very subdued but tucked in to a bowl of warm porridge. My cat who is bred for this type of weather was very  when she saw the snow, but ran out anyway and had a great time, will see if I can get some pics later.

We have about an inch of snow. Chooks are not impressed, it's so dark. It's been snowing all morning but gradually getting heavier. The roads are pretty clear though and the buses are running normally. Some of the schools have closed in the outlying districts and the high school has shut but LMW's primary school is open

I will have to venture out in it this evening to go to work but at least the main roads should still be ok , works car park might be another matter though!

We had a few flurries yesterday evening and overnight leaving just a light covering, but since dawn it has been snowing most of the time only lightly with heavier flurries, we now have about a cm not much but if it keeps up this steady snow it will soon gather. We have some heavier stuff forecast for later on.

I kept my older 2 at home because they have to travel about 7 miles to school and I was worried about how they would get back later, and YD is off with a temperature.

we've got off lightly in Margate but it's very cold. The snow has been falling all day but it's just melting when it hits the ground. No schools closed in our area (Son is very cross).

Same here. About 2" on the ground now but melting in the trees (althought still snowing!).

We don't commute on Mondays, so are very grateful today. Just rang in to work to check what it's like in SE London..... only 2 clinicians in out of a team of 14 :shock::!::!:

With a 50+ mile commute by car tomorrow we certainly hope it's better :!: Good thing we car share 8)
