Things that go Buzzzzzzzzzzz in the night

Recommended Posts

Not what youre all thinking either :shameonu: Got into bed with Oh last night and settled down to watch "Law and Order". we kept hearing a buzzing noise. My ES in other room heard it too. It appeared to be coming from under the bed. i had hoovered that day so OH thought I'd disturbed something though quite knows what i dont know. We decided after a while it wasnt an insect as it buzzed at 5minutely intervals! I unplugged every damm thing in the bedroom as OH thought it may be a surge of electricity. I was so hyped up I had visions of us burning in our beds. :anxious: I went downstairs and checked and all i found was a bewildered tabby cat :D back upstairs buzzing continued. Suddenly  I realised ES moblie was in our bedroom and that was still switched on. After much fiddling with it i managed to call one of his friends accidently on his mobile at 1/4 to midnight but luckily his phone was switched off  I was hysterical by now as we couldnt switch the phone off so OH went and woke ES and got him to do it despite him being groggy  Neither of us could sleep for ages as listening for buzzes. OH has decided ES should have an easier mobile to switch off and on so silly mom cant accidently call people at ungodly hours!!:lol::lol: Unfortunately I am a technophobe and regularly ES goes "Aw mum you're hopelss" nice huh?

A few weeks ago we were awoken to the sound of the telly in the lounge very loud at 4am. OH was dispatched to investigate and found cats had walked over remote and were watching a programe on Economics in South America!! Seemed to be enjoying it too.

:lol: Shouldn't laugh, but I know exactly how that feels! We were lying in bed one light and could hear 'Old Macdonalds Farm' playing somewhere. Everytime I woke OH up to listen it had stopped. I searched everywhere before I realised it was coming from the loft above our heads. Had to get into the loft to find a toy put away for christmas singing away. OH couldn't find the on/off switch so decided to take batteries out - cue hunt for a tiny screwdriver to remove the back panel to remove the batteries :shock: Not the best nights sleep we've ever had!

I had that once and eventually found the electric toothbrush had fallen over in the airing cupboard and the 'on' button must have knocked on something and it was happily buzzing away!

You mean the cat knocked on the door?? Spooky  i once house sat for someone who lived in a huge very old house when ES was about 1. She warned me her cat tapped on the door to be let in and not to be alarmed nevertheless when it happened I nearly died of fright and remembered all those horror films I;d watched where a woman was in the house alone with a psychopath outside :anxious::anxious::anxious:

We seem to be a family plagued by nightime noises. A few yrs back in our other house ES woke me to say he could hear someone downstairs opening drawers  My first thought was if he can open drawers in this house with ease then good luck to him as usually they are choc a block full and oveflowing!! didnt bother to wake OH who sleeps like the dead and set off with golf club in hand and ES (purple belt in karate) downstairs putting on all the lights en route. We found nothing - not sure what I would've done if someone had have been there. Screamed blue murder probably. All you ladies living in the country - you are very brave - animal nosies dont scare me owls foxes etc - fear of intruders does. hats off to you all :D

our cats used to do this quite often with our old telly :lol::lol: Our new tv has an accessible off switch so I've probably hampered their night time learning now

Sooo funny!

On our flight back from hols, the flight attendants were checking the stowage in the overhead lockers when one of them pulled out a bag and listened to it; seems it was buzzing. A very embarrassed lady came forward to turn the noise off..... bloke in front who saw what was going on said it was an *erm* 'adult toy'!!!!:shock::shock::shock::roll:

I mean... put it in your case! I was surprised that it had made it through security as they usually scan most electrical items.

Years ago when my two were small my cousin came over from Canada bearing noisy gifts. DD had a lion that roared and DS was given a cicada. The lion wasn't too bad and it wasn't long before the battery ran out. But that blooming cicada battery went on forever and when the button was pushed the noise lasted for ages too. I sympathise with the car journey, having had a similar experience. Luckily long car trips made (and still do) DS go to sleep very quickly! A happier note - she brings maple syrup with her instead!

This thread reminded me of the time when my nieces were tiny and, having fallen asleep together with a mountain of cuddly toys, my sisters and I were carefully removing all the toys for their safety. Of course I pick a toy up by the ear and it starts a galloping noise

We all held our breath but the nieces didn't wake up . Phew!

I think I may be responsible for a future internation incident.

I am about to post a present for Hattie (my soon to be 2 year old grandaughter in Australia). In it is Iggle Piggle - and if you press his tummy he sings a song. NOW. I THOUGHT I had packed it securely BUT when I picked it up tonight, it sang to me....

Can't re-pack - no time SO he's off to Australia singing away..... I'll let you know when(and if) he arrives - or I am carted off somewhere ....

I was a horrid mother when Rosie was little - I took the batteries out of any 'noisy toys' that people gave her!

my mum took the clicker out of my 'pull along turtle', I'll never forgive her :notalk:
