Lots of bad news

Recommended Posts

i don't really know where to put this but my 16 year old nephew might loose his hand.

He was working at a traveling fair on Friday and one of the rides he was putting together came apart and crushed his hand that was at 9pm at 11pm he rang his mum up but there was no way of getting to him (He was in Bangor and she was in Llandudno)Well he went to hospital yesterday and they took him into surgery, the surgeon came out after an hour and said his hand is more badly damaged than they first thought,he had degloved his hand and all the bones in his hand are crushed. He is being transferred from Bangor Hospital today to a specialist Hospital in Liverpool.

The first thing he asked the doctor was if he would still be able to join the Army.He only took the job so he could help out his mum with the bills.

and a girl i went to school with died yesterday in a car crash :(

she was the only one that died, she was in the car with 2 others one lad is in intensive care and the other girl that was in the car with them was just badly hurt but she's OK.

:(:(

I hope his hand can be saved. There are some extremely talented, brilliant surgeons out there so I'm sure they will do their absolute best. My brother's best friend had a horrific motorbike accident years ago and nearly lost his leg three times but they managed to save it (with goodness knows how many metal pins) so I'm thinking positive thoughts for your nephew.

Sorry to hear about your friend that died.

Sending you lots of hugs xxx

So sorry Raina to hear of them both.

Your nephew must be so strong to have coped without going to hospital until yesterday. That strength will get him through this. I really hope his hand can be saved. Some fantastic surgery is done now.

Must have been a shock hearing of your friend. So sorry.

Thanks Everyone!

I've got some good news,

They have managed to save my nephews hand but he has lost part of his finger (i'm not sure which one) He'll be going back home tomorrow but he'll have to go back in 3 weeks time for another operation.

He's never had much luck,

He nearly died when he was born then a few months later he nearly died when he got meningitis and all of his life he has suffered with severe eczema on his hands and feet,it's that bad some days he can't even write with a pencil.

I'm glad to hear they've managed to save the majority of his hand. Surgeons really are amazing and technology is on his side with that one at the minute.

Am sorry to hear about your school friend dying, and my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Hi Raina,

When you're all feeling stronger get your nephew to look at this

medical

I didn't notice mention of fingers, just loss of a thumb.

You mentioned his excema, get him to see if it can be treated, they often require reports from consultants. If, when he applies, he gets deferred because of it, tell him not to be too despondent, my son has been trying for 5 years now and has met many people who are on their third selection.

Good Luck.
